My Overall Experience at BITS Pilani Was Great

Overall Rating
BITS Pilani is a great institute overall in terms of opportunities offered to students. The amount of exposure it gives is insane and it prepares students for real world situations. Students can further engage in extra-curricular activities and hobbies to spend time with friends and make important bonds. Students get to explore the large campus and connect with nature too since it is in a remote area.
 

Academics Rating
I am in a dual degree course offering M.Sc Physics and BE Mechanical Engineering. You will need around 250-260 / 390 marks in BITSAT to get allotted this course. Students are assigned their Engineering degree based on their CGPA performance by the end of first year. Students have freedom to choose any engineering degree they want if they get a good CG.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is very knowledgeable but the teaching may be a little sub-par. You are better off putting efforts in by yourself rather than only sticking to classes. This is the case with almost all engineering colleges. Their style of teaching is quite varied but some students may have difficulty understanding the course and matching the speed of the professors.
 

Placement Rating
BITS Pilani has its own placement cell which helps students get placed in well paying jobs. It brings in companies and conducts fair placements based on rigorous interviews and GD rounds.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel Life is pretty average; however for the money we pay the facilities may seem a little sub-par. In terms of fun, hostel life is great, the students are mature and no sort of bullying ever happens due to strict and stringent rules. Each hostel has 2 grounds to play sports like badminton, volleyball and basketball. There are 5 washrooms on each floor and 3 water coolers which are sufficient to service everyone.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Academic buildings are all air conditioned and no student will face lack of academic infrastructure with modern research and practice equipment. However the recreation centers are a little outdated and are being renovated as I write this review. There is no functional swimming pool due to local issues. The library is very exhaustive and well maintained with almost all academic and recreational books available.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is amazing. There are clubs for almost all hobbies and the crowd is great. The fests are one of the biggest in Asia and several top notch artists are invited to perform. The seniors are very helpful and give invaluable advice. Everyone is respectful of each other’s spaces while being helpful. There may be a lack of branded food outlets but the current food outlets try to make up for it.

    BITS Pilani is the best private college for engineering. Its placement, courses, faculty, and facilities are advanced and good. It offers a good startup culture along with engineering which has motivated me to join this institute.     BITS is the only private institute in India that accepts admission only based on talent and skills of a student. There are no donation seats and no reservations.
