My experience with Vidyalankar Institute of technology has been delightful ever since I joined the institute in 2021. I enrolled in Electronics Engineering stream. The best part about the institute that I experienced as soon as I started with my first semester was how good learning environment it has. Teachers are always eager to help students in each and every way possible. The institute is so focused on the betterment of students that they even let us create our own weekly timetable known as “My timetable.” The level of study, the infrastructure, excellent teaching staff, extremely well-curated curriculum and a great emphasis on co-curricular activities made me choose VIT during the time of taking admission. I’d highly recommend those who are interested in participating in various co-curricular activities, want fewer burdens of theory lectures, and want to actually prepare for placements or even Masters to join institute. We have a cell called “Study Abroad Program” which aims to provide students with the best possible preparation for studying abroad. Personally I would highly recommend anyone who’s actually very interested in living all aspects of institute life to join Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Mumbai.

Admission to Vidyalankar Institute of Technology can be availed by two methods: Government CAP counseling & Management quota. I chose Electronics Engineering (this branch was upgraded to Electronics & Computer Science Engineering during my second year). For all the programs offered by the institute, you need a valid MHT-CET score to be eligible for admissions. The cut-off for all programs varies each year. In 2021, the cut-off for admission into my program was 85 percentile which went past 95 percentile this year. If you’re taking admission through government CAP counseling then you can avail category benefits as applied. You can also apply for the MahaDBT scholarship to avail scholarship in your program if you’re eligible. For Management quota students, no scholarship is available irrespective of their category. Any student with a valid MHT-CET score, 45% or above in 12th board examination is eligible to take admission in the institute. My motivation to pursue Electronics Engineering was based on my curiosity about different electrical systems and designs and their working. However, ever since my branch was upgraded to Electronics and Computer science engineering, I find myself more leaned towards learning software tools and technologies, having mastered many of them thanks to our amazing faculty and well-curated course curriculum. My course “Electronics and Computer Science Engineering” has subjects of both Electronics as well as Software Engineering. The entire course has 8 semesters that takes a total of 4 years to complete. It offers amazing subjects such as AI/ML, IoT, Data structures and Algorithms, Java, Python, C+ programming, Cloud Computing, Network Analysis, Electronic Devices and Circuits, VLSI, AR/VR, Computer Architecture, etc. Overall I’m very pleased with my course and I’ll highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning both pillars of engineering.

When it comes to faculty and other teaching staff, Vidyalankar Institute of Technology is unmatched. The faculty members are amazingly knowledgeable, talented and willing to help students whenever they need. The overall teaching learning experience that I experienced in Vidyalankar is extremely valuable and great. Most of the faculty members in my department are PhD or currently pursuing PhD. Teachers like Akhil Masurkar Sir, Pravin Annadate, and Dr. Sheetal Patil are extremely talented and are some of the best teachers I’ve ever studied with. One pattern that I noticed is that every teacher in the institute has their own unique style of teaching. Some teachers in my department like to make the class more fun by conducting quizzes, some teachers like to apply more practical techniques for the betterment of students and some teachers make the learning very simple to understand. Overall I’m very satisfied with the faculty members and their style of teaching. I really like the fact that teachers here don’t just go with the textbook language and instead use their own unique ways to make learning easier and fun.

Vidyalankar Institute of Technology has a very active placement cell in the campus. The placement cell is very active in preparing the students for placements, actively inviting many companies on campus for hiring and giving all necessary information about placements. The placement cell is one of the best parts of our institute. Since my second year, the cell has actively engaged us in preparing for institute placements. Due to the readiness of our placement cell, institute has seen some good placements on campus compared to other institutes. Companies like Accenture, TCS, Capgemini, Jio, Google, JTP (Japan), Works Application (Japan), Seclore, Interactive Brokers, Carwale, Godrej, etc. visited our institute for hiring students. The highest package offered was 24 LPA and the lowest offer was 3 LPA. The average package offered was 3.5 LPA. The institute didn’t provide the percentage of student placed. However, out of 550 students that sat for placements, 423 students were hired. Few opted for internships and few opted out of placements, and rest of them went for masters.

Hostel facilities were provided by the institute in past before the pandemic. However, the hostel was not located in the campus. After the pandemic, no hostel facilities are provided.

Infrastructure wise, Vidyalankar Institute of Technology is very advanced. The institute is equipped with newest technologies. To give a detailed understanding of the infrastructure I’ll brief about every possible aspect. Each lecture hall is equipped with well functioning ACs, a smart board, well lit LED ceiling, big windows for proper sunlight and vents. Few lecture halls on the upper floors have charging points on every desk. Each classroom has fire sprinkler system and fire alarm. Vidyalankar auditorium was awarded the best in design award by a New York based interior design organization. It is one of the biggest and highly charismatic auditoriums among all institutes of Mumbai. The auditorium has a seating capacity of more than 400 people. Multiple washrooms are available on every floor. Even floors have ladies washrooms while odd floors have gents washrooms. Our washrooms recently were upgraded and now they’ve sensor based water taps, odor resistant system, and very well maintained toilets. Teachers & staff washrooms are separate from student’s washrooms. There are currently two multipurpose playgrounds in the campus. Both are well maintained. Compared to any other institutes, our institute has many canteens and cafeterias including an on campus CCD, Nescafe and an upcoming domino’s Pizza. Overall infrastructure can be rated 9.5/10

Anyone who wants to enjoy all aspects of campus life should definitely join Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. Overall campus life here is amazing. Institute encourages students to participate in various co-curricular activities and events since the first year. The management is willing to conduct various student friendly activities all the time. My institute has various clubs, committees and other groups. The main student body is the Student Council. The student council is responsible for the annual fest and annual sport events. The annual fest is known as “Verve” and is held annually in the month of March-April. This is the main fest of the institute. It has amazing events like celebrity concerts, dance competitions, fashion show, singing competitions, etc. Besides our annual fest, we also have our annual sport event called “Vemps” which is held annually in the month of February. It has various sports events like cricket, football, basketball, etc. Besides our student council, each department has their own respective departmental level committees. My department’s committee is known as ESSA. Departmental level committees are responsible for conducting events based on their own department’s main teaching subjects. Besides our departmental level committees, inter-institute committees like IEEE, GDSC, CSI, etc. are well established in institute. The institute has really focused well on co-curricular activities that have made my campus life amazingly enjoyable. The student participation, the crowd and the enthusiasm makes all these events very enjoyable. Overall the campus life couldn’t be better for me.
