Banaras Hindu University B.Com Review By Vipin Pratap

As we all are aware that Banaras Hindu University is globally recognized university and one the prestigious university in India. The most important thing in making it so is the Academics part. As a student of Commerce department in BHU, I can tell you about my department only. Though it's not the best but I can confidently say that our faculty can easily make into top 10 institutes for Commerce students in India, especially for the B.com (Hons.). From the academic year 2024-25, the university has implemented NEP 2020, to provide Students multidisciplinary knowledge. The university also has central library which is one the biggest libraries of India where you can find books, Journals, etc for every subject. You would love it if you are a bookworm.

To get into this university, you just need to meet the required cut-offs for your respective course or subject preference, from your category by giving the CUET entrance exam. The Academics here actually focuses in developing theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the students. You have a library for every faculty, where you can find best books related to your course and subjects.

The faculties here are very good and cooperative. They help you in everything you just need to ask them. Professors are actually very experienced and knowledgeable. You get to learn and interact with the professors whose books are recommended or preferred in other universities. They can guide you in making your future decisions and choose right path for you.

I.N Gurtu hostel is allotted to students of the Faculty of Commerce. The condition of hostel is quite good, and you will get food also from there. Although this year the hostels are not allotted to the first year students because the hostels are very old and now they are reconstructing it with even more capacity and better rooms. The hostel fee is also very low (₹4750 per year).

The infrastructure is actually good. The classrooms, washrooms, seminar halls, etc. are pretty decent. The sports infrastructure is above all as you can easily play any sports of your interest from Judo or taekwondo to cricket, football or chess, everything. Every faculty has its own sports ground and for every sports. There is a gym also for a student which is free of cost. You just need a pass signed by your HOD. BHU also provides swimming facilities to its students, but there is fee for it which you have to pay and learn swimming there. It also provides free medical facilities to its students, but before that you need your medical card for it. You can easily find everything within your vicinity without hassling much.

The best days of anyone's life will be obviously being college days. The large campus of Banaras Hindu University makes your college life a memorable one. After the completion of course, you will leave BHU but BHU never leaves, it's forever with you. The crowd here makes you feel like you are in an ocean, but it's actually worth being here. Yeah you will not have the fests every month or week, which you will get in many other colleges, but that doesn't make any difference here, except you are in IIT (BHU). There are various inter-faculty clubs, which organize different activities for students, which actually helps in their overall personality development. You can visit the Vishwanath temple (VT), which is almost at the centre of the campus or you can hang out at various Ghats of this beautiful city.
