IIT Guwahati is located at a distance of 20 km from the city of Guwahati. It is known for its most beautiful campus, magnificent greenery and a viewpoint from where you can see the whole campus, and three major lakes. The campus is completely safe as there are no harmful animals and also you can find guards at every point. It is built over the total area of 700 Acres, where all the basic amenities are constructed. It provides lots of facilities starting from AC classrooms, general day-to-day needs to the best sports facilities. There are canteens in a nearby each area, a restaurant, hangout areas, CCD, a 3-floor library, a market-complex, and a well-structured Student Activity Center (SAC).

There are around 10+ departments. You can choose electives from other branches also but you need fulfill some prerequisites such a basic-level course, CPI criteria. In the first year every branch will have same curriculum after that you can have chance to change the branch based on your CPI. From second year, all will segregate according to the branches. There are new branches like Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, Energy Engineering, etc. You can also pursue Bachelor of Design degree.

There you will have the chance to study from top and skilled faculties. Some of them have been professors or students in top- foreign universities. There is a system of relative grading that is followed by all IITs but in some easy course, you may have absolute grading also. You can find some professors very chill. You might at disadvantage if you fail to have less than 75 % attendance. Top branches such as CSE and MAC have comparatively strict professors in terms of attendance and course structure. They work on a lot of projects you can be a part of them according to area of Interest.

As you all know, IITs are known for best placements. Here, you will have a good placement cell. This cell takes care of everything and acts as communicator between companies and students. They will arrange some talks before starting off the placement or intern season to make you aware of everything starting from CV building to recruitment. You can even get exposure to placement by becoming a volunteer. For resources, you can reach out to any seniors and clubs and societies will also provide resources depending upon the role.

Hostels in the institute are divided as per the courses and gender. The hostels have a gym, a canteen, a library, and a common room. Every semester, there is a gala dinner where you can enjoy good food. Hostel day is celebrated for each hostel, the hostel is decorated and there are some fun events like DJ nights, musical nights and fun chit-chats with final-sybarites. You can get to learn from their experiences. Hostels are like home there. There are some newly built hostel, guest houses, and a student activity center with modern architectures.

The new SAC is very well made incorporating each requirement of students. The newly built building have big spaces and best infrastructure. There is a central Library, CCD, restaurant, food court, and a lot more. Overall, whole campus is well-maintained.

For campus, I don't think IIT Guwahati needs any rating. It is known for its exceptional beauty, its colorful spring season with cherry blossoms, its beautiful and calm lakes, its rainy evenings and whatnot. We have lots of fest happening at IITG ranging from cultural, technical, sports, and the E-summit. All are largest in North-East region to gather audience from India and outside India. If you are a part of any fest or club, you are free to give your idea and make into execution which might help in placements and career.
