Overall, I liked this institute. I try to participate in as much events as possible and we have a great fun in those events. Only problem is it is difficult to balance academics and extracurricular activities especially when you are in the Mechanical department. Decent campus life and decent placement is what you expect from any college, and I think the institute provides the same.

Mechanical Engineering is tough, especially when you are involved in extracurricular activities. If you are studying daily or able to concentrate at professors’ lectures, it won't be much difficult. Placement is fair. To get into Mechanical department, you need to get All India Rank less than 45,000 in JEE Mains exam for General Category. You may get with higher rank too if you are from SC / ST. Home state too has advantage like they too get college and course at comparatively higher rank than other states. My motive for taking Mechanical Engineering at NIT Jalandhar was that this was what I could get best at my JEE Mains AIR.

If you are in college, you cannot depend on teachers like you do in schools. You have to work hard by yourselves; faculty will guide you for sure when you approach them. Some faculties are great in terms of their qualifications, research, teaching style, etc. while I am not satisfied by a few faculties.

Yes, we do have a Placement Cell at our Institute. They coordinate with Placement Representatives (PRs) and do their best to help students get jobs in the industry. CGPA is important for getting a good job opportunity so maintain a good CGPA.

Yes, we do have residential facilities in our Institute. In the 1st year, you have to share room with 4 students including yourselves. In 2nd and 3rd year, you are accommodated with 2 students and in 4th year, you may get single room or 2 seated likes in 2nd & 3rd year. Wi-Fi is provided for internet surfing. Water cooler and Washing Machine is at every floor. Electricity is there all the time except when some problem occurs or during storms. Infrastructure is good. Sports equipment for Cricket, Table Tennis, Chess, etc. are provided. I personally liked the hostel life of first year except that you it gets hotter in summer in that building.

Infrastructure is pretty good. We have separate air-conditioned lecture theatres, workshops, air-conditioned library, and study room with computers and a good Wi-Fi. Sports infrastructure is also good. This year, NITJ is hosting All India Inter-NIT Basketball & Table Tennis tournament. Decent hostel buildings are present.

Campus life is good here. We have several clubs. They organise several events. There is one cultural fest named Utkansh organised every year by Team Cultural Affairs (TCA) and one Technical Fest named 'TechNITI' organised every year by Team Technical Affairs (TTA). Sports Fest and Athletic Fest is also organised every year.
