St. Xavier's College, Kolkata is an autonomous college and one of the most prestigious colleges of India. It is also famous in abroad. It was my dream college since I chose Commerce as my subject in 11th grade. Luckily I got accepted in this college by giving an entrance exam for BMS course. This college is famous for its courses in the Arts stream. But nonetheless, all of its courses are equally amazing. It provides top quality education as well as opportunities for growth and personality development through its different societies.

If you want to pursue your Bachelors in Management Studies from this prestigious college, you'll have to give an entrance exam for it which includes questions from various subjects like Math, English, and Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation. The eligibility criterion is simple as anyone can opt for this course from any stream, which means Science as well as Arts students can apply for this course. If you're interested in learning how to manage things and lead a group professionally, then you should definitely go for this course. As for me I want to become an HR so here I'm pursuing BMS from St. Xavier’s College.

The faculty is something which you'll love the most. They are there to help you all the time. Our professors are the teachers everyone wishes to have. Their knowledge is omniscient. They not only teach us from inside our books but also give us knowledge about the outside world. The whole faculty is amazing which will always motivate you for growth and personal development and train you for your future endeavors and the best part is they will make you a disciplined person in the best way possible.

St. Xavier's College has its own placement cell which is managed by the concerning professors and students. Students can join the placement cell as members by giving an interview in their first year of college itself. But it doesn't stop there; the students who become members of the placement cell help other students to get jobs after their completion of course by counseling them and keeping them up to date about the job opportunities that come by. Placement cell members have a higher chance of getting jobs since they gain more experience by managing various seminars and activities of their cell. Nonetheless, if a student has potential he/she is sure to get a job right after their graduation.

Yes, we do have hostel facility. But it's not like other colleges', it's a little far from the college campus, I would say at the 15 minute walk distance. But if you're a gym enthusiast, I would say it would be a great exercise for you. The hostel provides all the necessary facilities. They have meals at very low price to keep it student friendly. The rent is reasonable. I personally never stayed in the hostel, but according to my friends, if you want to study well and keep yourself focused in your goal then this hostel is the best place for you. There are timings in the hostel allocated for various activities like studying, playing, watching TV, eating meals, etc. There's also a curfew which everyone has to abide by. The hostel building is also known as the twin hostels as there are two buildings of same structure side by side, one for boys and one for girls. The hostel also has its own special annual event every year which is known as ‘Cofradia’.

This college was built in the year 1940, so its infrastructure design is from British era. The design is old but it definitely gives the college feels. It is clean and maintained nicely. Most of the classrooms have AC which helps us to concentrate on our lectures during the summers. We have a huge library which is filled with books on various subjects. There are cleaned washrooms in all the floors. There is also a common room for female students to rest which is absolutely safe. We also have a chapel building, where our IT classes are held. Some of the other facilities of the campus include gym, auditorium, drinking water, playgrounds, courts, etc. In addition to all these, there are separate studios for Mass Communication Department. Overall you'll find everything in the campus premises.

The campus life of our college is pretty cool. There is some or the other event happening every day. Not a single day goes boring in here. You'll find yourself growing better each day in here. There are various societies which students can join, for example, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Xavier’s Management Society (exclusively for the BMS dept.), Xavier’s Commerce Society, Halt Prize, Consultancy Club, Theatrical Society and many more. The college has its own grand annual fest name ‘Xavotsav’ which happens around the month of February. Other events are also conducted from time to time.
