Bangabasi College B.A Review By Chandni Rudra

Bangabasi College is affiliated with Calcutta University and has been NAAC accredited with B+. The admission process is entirely carried out through online mode. The Management is also pretty well and the students would receive sufficient cooperation from the faculty as well. I would say that my decision to pursue my career in this college is totally worth it!

The BA (Hons.) English is actually a bit difficult to go for as there are not many seats available in the English department. There were no entrance exam for this course and I feel really lucky to get a chance to pursue this course under this college. I was fond of English since childhood and hence I have always been keen to pursue my career with this subject. With this course I can further pursue my degree in masters which I plan to do. Talking about jobs, English honors can land me onto jobs like content writing, newspaper editing, media and marketing, teaching and many more.

In our course, BA (Hons) English we have 6 faculty members who are extremely cooperative and friendly. The faculty always looks out for the students who need extra care for nourishing in their course. Moreover, there are many students who come from weaker economic sections of the society but no discrimination has been ever made by the faculty which is really noteworthy for encouraging a healthy environment in the classroom.

Unfortunately, there is no campus placement for BA but the college is known for giving placement to the students of commerce stream. Students of B.Com (Hons.) and general are offered internship by many renowned companies like Infosys, NSFI etc. The students are offered around 6-7k as their starting amount.

The college does not have any hostel accommodation yet.

The college has been newly renovated. Earlier there were about 30 classrooms but after the renovation the number has been increased to 60. The classrooms are neat and tidy with proper ventilation systems. Each classroom has about 80-100 desks allowing each student to sit comfortably. The college has restrooms, a library and 2 laboratories. The canteen of the college is situated downstairs below the college auditorium. The canteen food is really hygienic and delicious, which makes the canteen always packed with students. Apart from this, there is also a student cell and anti ragging cell for the students. In case of any medical emergency the students can avail the medical room.

Talking about campus life, it is altogether great! Our college frequently organises blood donation camps, health camps and many other social camps in which we can volunteer. Also, there are yearly feasts organised which is my favorite part. Several renowned celebrities are invited which adds to the glamour of our functions. Apart from this, different other festivals like Basanta Utshab, Swarasati Puja are also celebrated in the college.
