Hindu College B.Sc Review By Bhoomi Chhabra

This year I started studying at Hindu College as a B.Sc Statistics student and my experience till now has been definitely satisfying. The second I heard I got in this college, I was ecstatic. Though the starting days were all jittery and full of social awkwardness, but the diversity and the inclusivity this institute will make you feel like a part of it pretty soon. The classes, the societies and everything in between will leave you with a whole new experience in various fields of your choice. Though yes, college is always different from what we assume and think, the courses aren't easy and you got to give time to study and complete your core subjects and the extra one's, but that's what we came here for at the end of the day, to make career. What a better place to do so then Hindu College.

Hindu College is one of the best as not most of the colleges of DU provide this course. It mainly revolves around Math and Statistics, so you have to be good in these subjects. Math scores are important since these scores decide the eligibility of the student. I enrolled in this course since I wanted to go in a field that offers me opportunities to learn practical stuff and to land me in a professional circle where the future is promised to be progressive.

The faculty is good. I haven't been here long or took class of every teacher of my department but yeah, the faculty isn't bad. The teachers have vast knowledge of their field. The classes sometimes turn very interesting through the discussions about college itself or anything related to subjects. The faculty is helpful in the sense, they provide you with the study material and notes or whatever you need and are kind of easy to communicate honestly. They all got different styles and it depends on what works for you to be honest.

There are two such cells, one is placement cell called ‘Disha’ and the other is internship cell called ‘Abhyas’. I'd say both of them are really helpful. I can assure you that they do actually work hard and try to bring as many opportunities as possible to our college. They are all students too yet they work responsibly and the work is taken very seriously. The opportunities are offered to everyone of the college.

I do live in the hostel of the college. I'd say it's somewhat average. The restrictions aren't bad as they are reasonable enough. The food is good and there's variety in it too. The staff is helpful and does adhere to all your complaints. Despite the fee being a little on the high side, safety is a for sure thing. There are facilities available on each floor like pantry, inductions and such along with a few games and magazines to read in common room.

The campus is good. It's green and I specially love the sculpture in front of the Science block. The auditorium is an amazing. The classes are good enough I'd say. The classes do have screens and boards both and all in all it’s fine.

The crowd is diverse. There's different kind of people from all sorts of places around India pursuing a whole bunch of courses and participating in different activities and societies as per interests and it’s a vibe. Since I just started, I have only heard about how awesome fests are but will get to experience that whenever they start to happen. There are constant seminars and events that keep happening so it's all good.
