Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore is a beautiful green campus located in Ettimadai, around 20 KM from the city of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the top premier institutions in India, ranking 7th in overall rankings as per NIRF. I have chosen this university due to several reasons. Comparing to other colleges, I found it to be more focused on self discipline, as well as its reputation it has developed in just a span of three decades. Their smart approach towards research development, academic performance over the years and overall co-curricular productivity has appealed to me. It has a good environment for learning, as it boasts a good student-to-faculty ratio as well as well developed laboratories and a big library. The curriculum is also updated on par with the IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) syllabus, so as to facilitate students towards learning the trends of the ever-growing industry and its technological advancement. The infrastructure is also remarkable, with latest technologies built in the labs, projector screens in spacious classrooms, a large physical and digital library, as well as modern hostels. For future students, my personal opinion is that this university is a developed hub which presents a blend of quality education, innovation and moral support. It is also well committed to research as seen in recent times. Also, the global exposure with foreign universities from the United States and Europe through partnerships and student exchange programs further enhances our learning experience. I recommend it to anyone who seeks a thorough, comprehensive and an enriching educational experience.

As a multidisciplinary university, it offers a variety of programs across various fields like Engineering, Management, Arts, as well as Medicine. B.Tech is inarguably the flagship program of this institution, which includes amongst others Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Electrical, Mechanical, etc. This program spans for four years, which is typical. This university also offers BBA, MBA, and B.Sc as well as PhD programs. The curriculums are meticulously articulated to meet industry trends, and it does so through projects, internships and research work throughout their years of study. For Bachelors of Technology, students must have completed their 10+2 education in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects and passed out with a minimum percentage of 60% in your 12th. Admission is purely based on your AEEE rank as well as JEE scores.

The faculty of first years has diverse backgrounds, with professors either holding PhD degrees, or pursuing one presently. Some teachers even have experience in working at renowned organizations, thereby bringing practical knowledge and life experience in the classrooms. Their teaching styles are a mix of traditional values as well as modern practical learning and interactions. Our professors encourage us in asking and clarifying our doubts. They supplement our learning through PPTs, notes and teaching material.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has an active placement cell at our head campus in Coimbatore. It includes organizations which help us in acquiring a job in the industry, ensuring our placements. They provide career guidance, soft skills training as well as resume building workshops, from the first year itself. They also organize mock interviews and group discussions to help us prepare for the industry. The university also has strong connections with several companies from India as well as abroad. Top recruiters include tech giants, multinational corporations and tech startups. The alumni network also helps in providing guidance and references in respect to placements.

The hostels in the university are usually clean and well-maintained. The housekeepers clean the hostel premises around two times a week, and clean the bathrooms three times a week. There are separate accommodations for boys and girls. Rooms are usually four-sharing until the last year, where fourth years can live in a single occupancy room. Basic furniture includes a bed, chair, and table and cabinets for storing your personal items as well as a table lamp and several fans. The hostel offers laundry services, security all 24 hours and a clinic for any cases of emergencies. The food quality is decent, with the menu rotating occasionally to provide variety. Outdoor sport facilities include badminton and tennis courts, along with cricket and football fields.

The university has multiple academic blocks each dedicated to their departments. The buildings are spacious, ventilated and equipped with modern teaching aids which include projectors. There are also seminar halls and auditoriums for larger events, conferences and guest lectures. For students who want to pursue Engineering or Science, the campus offers well developed and advanced laboratories. These labs are usually updated frequently to match with industry standards. We are provided with hands on experience, in computer, electronics and mechanical labs. The library also offers a vast collection of books, e-books, journals, and research papers including from the faculty. There are many food courts and canteens, each providing different varieties of food if you are ever bored of the mess food. The university also has a bus service to facilitate quick transport of students from their hostels too far away academic blocks. The university also has several ATMS, a post office, a departmental store and a clinic.

The student life here is diverse, with several students coming from different backgrounds from both India as well as abroad. It brings a rich blend of cultures, perspectives, and personal experience.
There are many student clubs in Amrita, for coding, robotics, literary club, music and dance, as well as an environmental club. ‘Anokha’ tech fest is Amrita's flagship fest. It attracts participants across India, offering hackathons, coding contests, and technical workshops. We are also exposed to several sports and physical activities. We engage in football, cricket, tennis, table tennis, badminton. The gymnasium is also popular amongst us students. Despite the tedious academic schedule, we generally sneak in some time for relaxation and hanging out. Canteens and gardens are our go-to spots to unwind with our friends between and after classes.
