Indraprastha College for Women B.A Review By Shadma Malik

Coming to Delhi and studying at University of Delhi was my dream, and it came true in 2022. I cleared CUET and got admitted to IPCW. IPCW wasn't my first preference, but I have never regretted it. This college is excellent in every aspect whether its academics, infrastructure or anything else. This place is very peaceful and it is far away from the main north campus. IPCW is Delhi University's first women's college. This year it has completed Legacy of 100 years. My experience here has been wonderful. There were some challenges when our faculty was changed midway, but now everything is back to normal. I am created various memories in my college life and have thoroughly enjoyed every part of it. I highly recommend this college to anyone wishing to be part of Delhi University. They can choose IPCW without any hesitation.

I am in the 5th semester, pursuing a BA (Hons.) in Sociology. I took admission here through CUET in 2022. Earlier there were no sociology courses here. This course was introduced in 2017. Whoever wants to take admission here can give the CUET exam conducted by the NTA. The cut-off for Sociology here ranged from 650 to 720. Here regular classes are held and 64% attendance is compulsory for all the students to sit in the exams. Overall, I can say that a lot of emphasis is placed on studies here, so it is necessary to take academics seriously.

In my course, the professors are highly qualified, with most of them having completed their Ph.D’s. Our professors are really good they not only teach us but they also help us with every doubt that we may have. When our faculty was changed, it was a hard time for us as the professors had also guided us. The new professors are good and they have a friendly vibe. They always support us and try to help whenever needed. There is a mentor mentee meeting with one of our professors in which they assist and guide us whether it’s related to academics, career or other problems.

IPCW has great infrastructure. There's greenery everywhere which provides peace of mind. The college is very mindful of sustainable resources such as, having compost pots and solar panels. There are four buildings on campus, with enough rooms, a conference hall, a very spacious auditorium, seminar room, AVL theatre and all. It also has a cafeteria. Recently a Nescafe outlet was inaugurated at the campus. Due to beautiful location we get to see peacocks along with really cute cats. I can say that IPCW has one of the best Infrastructures.

IPCW hosts a lot of events every week including academic talks, workshops, and other fun activities. The college has its own fest called 'Shruti,' which takes place in March or April. There are a lot of fun activities & cultural performances. This year (February 2024), a grand event was held to celebrate the college's 100 years. There are various societies, such as dance (Indian and Western), singing (Aalap), drama (Abhivyakti), English debate, and many more.
