My Pleasant Journey at Salesian College.

Overall Rating
Overall, it has been a pleasant, if not an excellent experience. I will surely miss the big exam halls, long hallways and the delicious canteen food. Salesian has provided a number of platforms for self growth. Along with academic growth it also conducts numerous events and co curricular activities keeping the student’s overall experience fun and engaging. However, the strict maintenance of the dress code and attendance might seem like a difficult task, especially during rainy days.
 

Academics Rating
English honors as a B.A. course has been a wonderful journey! The first year was most fun as we all were excited and new to college life. The syllabus ranged from the ancient Greek texts to the Indian texts of Natyashastra, from the Romantic Era to post colonial literature. I definitely learned a lot from the proficient, knowledgeable professors. They have been great in not only the classroom but, also outside of it.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty of English Honors in Salesian College Siliguri is awesome. They are wonderful not only in their knowledge in literature but also in guidance. They are more like a second parent outside of home and friends in the classroom. They are calm and collected individuals. They are very particular about maintaining a friendly relationship with the students and are not biased towards anyone. One thing is for sure that they love literature as much as we do!
 

Hostel Rating
My personal experience in the hostel was 5/10. The good part was it costs lower than the average PG. The disadvantage was food and electricity shortage.
 

Infrastructure Rating
I would rate the infrastructure as 7/10. The buildings are beautiful and the classrooms are spacious & clean. The college has various canteens so nobody is hungry. The washrooms in the right wings of Don Bosco Block seems to always run out of water, other than that, the rest of the washrooms in the college are clean and hygienic.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life for me has been a good experience. We are required to wear full uniform all the time along with ID Card. The main gate closes at 8:45 in the morning. We have a morning assembly and lectures along with two breaks in between. The students are pretty friendly along with all the faculties. We have the most fun during the festive events like Innovition and Ethnic Day. Co curricular activities include music, sports, theatre, NSS and NCC, etc. We also have a Women's Cell and a Volunteers' Body.

    Salesian College is a government recognized, now autonomous college, minority educational institution of the Catholic Church which is managed by the Silesians of Don Bosco, Kolkata province.     I studied Physics (Hons.). While the rigorous focus on theory classes and practical work may limit social interactions for those in science stream, students who enjoy attending festivals, programs and various events will find plenty to engage with. It's important to note that the college has strict attendance policies. Students are expected to adhere to set timings, which can pose challenges, especially in emergencies.
