Most academic based college in arts and commerce

Overall Rating
Born and brought in Chandigarh it was always a dream to get in G.G.D.S.D. though I was unable to make it in to my graduation as I was only left out with little marks I worked hard and scored well in my graduation and therefore was able to make it into masters. The teacher faculty was amazing; they were highly supportive and kept me on my feet. 2 years were filled with hard work and fun at the same time.
 

Academics Rating
I studied Master in Economics. We do not have any entrance exams but we got into it on merit basis. I had scored 75% in my graduation but the cut off for Master was high but I was able to make it in the 2nd round of counseling. I joined master as I wanted to become a lecturer. We had option to choose our subjects so I had the option to drop math's since I wasn't very bright in it. I was unable to appear for UGC Net as I got a job in content writing as soon as I finished college.
 

Faculty Rating
I had 4 subjects each semester and different teachers for the same. They were very supportive and highly experienced. Some of them were young so they had a very connective relationship being of the close age and very understanding. Our last semester had to suffer a little due to covid initially but our teachers were able to complete the course smoothly.
 

Placement Rating
We had a very regular placement drive conducted at our college though I was unable to attend them but my friends did and so 2 of my friends secured a great job at Algomill Solutions which is based in Mohali. They got 5-10 lakh pa package. Majorly 50% of my class was able to secure job just through the campus drive and many are still attending it even after passing out for job change.
 

Hostel Rating
Girls and boys hostel were separate. Boys' hostel as usual had no time issues but girls hostel gates would close by 6-7 and then entry could only be done by permission of guardian or parent or if there is an emergency. Hostel food is not very good but the rooms and washrooms are good and tidy. They were washed and cleaned every day. I used to have hostel food with my friends though it's not allowed if you don't stay there.
 

Infrastructure Rating
There are 4 separate educational buildings marking different courses, one is for arts, one for commerce, one for science and one MBA which is new course now. We also had a whole building which was library plus reading room fully air conditioned. Classrooms were smart classrooms attached with screen and projector but there were no ac just the fans. There is one big canteen, one shop and 1 big playground where we used to play cards.
 

Campus Rating
Campus and college life was great. As I was pursuing masters I had to study a lot but at the same time we had great fun parties and celebration at college. There was college fest which would go long for a week so it was so much fun and memorable. I was a part of reading club which took place 2 days a month but was called off after covid.

    I had heard that this is one of the best colleges in Chandigarh with the best crowd and faculty. I will say that the crowd and the campus life in itself is a vibe. The clubs, societies, and the festivals are amazing. I chose psychology and I definitely am satisfied with the faculty of my department, most of them are very helpful and so I honestly do not regret choosing this college.     Overall Rating
    SD College is a dream destination for the people living anywhere in the world. You will find majority of people from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, Jammu, U.P, Mohali, Chandigarh, etc. The student ratio includes more number of girls than boys. The crowd is very friendly and amiable. Everybody seems nice and kind. The college is affiliated to Punjab University, and the curriculum works according to the university norms and procedures.     The infrastructure is nice and the teachers are experienced and well versed in their respective subjects. The placement cell works hard to provide campus recruitment to final year students. Many MNCs and other reputed companies come to the campus for placement drives with attractive packages. There are many fests organised.     SD is one of the renowned colleges of Tricity having a good infrastructure and facilities. Moreover, it provides an equivalent opportunity to all of students to perform in various fields.
