If you are optimistic and determined towards your goal, MITS is not the ideal college. Getting admissions here is easy and getting a degree is even easier. If you have a craving to explore new ideas, develop your personality, or be confident, MITS won't help. There are hardly any co-curriculum activities at MITS or any such opportunities that will help you learn and grow. These are a few missing things, but then a few things have boasting rights too. The college provides you with enough infrastructures to prepare for Masters's exams. The college will never pressure semester exams on students. The students have all the time in the world to enjoy great campus life. Thus, without any disturbance, you can prepare for further studies and at the same time have a gala time with friends too.

Unlike many engineering colleges where attendance is compulsory, it was different at MITS. The outsiders were happy sleeping during the college hours, and the locals had many other interesting kinds of stuff to do than attending the classes. Announcements for practicals were made well in advance. Practicals would have full attendance, which was when we got to meet the entire class. Practical-based learning was given importance, and many incubation centers have also started. Learning the importance of filling the hole was the best learning. However, no industrial training and much co-curricular activities were there apart from the syllabus's practical-based learning.

Faculty were for millennials, and millennials for them were the serious students. I wasn't in that bracket, but that doesn't mean they completely ignored me. Asking doubts was appreciated and asking for a little extra mark in practicals was obliged. Thus, they were student-friendly and highly cooperative. One can rub shoulders with them as and when required. Amid all the college's flaws, the faculty were the brightest star of it.

Any engineer would love to have placement from the campus, and MITS has done reasonably well. Not just the Indian two-tier companies but MNCs too have joined hands with the college for placements. IT & CSE department students had the best placements while Civil and Mechanical students found no takers. They were struggling until the end, so the new norm that technology is the answer to all solutions is correct at least at MITS. Electronic students had the major advantage as they sat for an interview for both the companies, be It Electronics or IT. From tech companies, giants like ZenSar, Persistent, and Mphasis took majority of students with a pay cheque of 3-4 LPA. The placement recorded in 2016 was around 70%.

There are three blocks of Boys and one block of girl's hostel. Though I didn't stay at the hostel, I know that the hostels were fantastic. From the outset, they were gorgeous, and from inside, they had all the facilities that made sure students never miss their friends and family. All the students stayed at the hostel in unity. If one was sick, the entire hostel would come up, and it's hard to find such a place where this kind of unity exists. Irrespective of cultural backgrounds, the students made the best use of the hostels. The food provided was great and the facilities even greater.

MITS campus is huge and has all the central facilities from the library to the dispensary. The college area was close to 50 acres. There were over 10 admin departments and one central building with all the data and the library in it. There were three computer centres and a track field of NCC training. The college, over the years, has produced many cadets. As I was asked to write about a differentiator in infrastructure, the differentiator is a forest named Madhav-Van, which is inside the campus. I have been to over 20 campuses and have never seen a forest inside the campus. The forest was so beautiful and elegant. One can find rare species of birds there as for us it was a common sighter. The college had two canteens and a mess open for hostellers and day scholars.

If one has to have fun at the campus playing, then there's a beautiful playground at the campus. If one is fond of indoor sports, there is a recreation room with plenty of indoor sports. If one needs a personal space, then there's a forest where one can have alone time. If one needs to hang around with friends, there's a beautiful canteen at the campus, and it is not compulsory to order and then sit. One can sit and talk the whole day as there is no restriction on college students. There are some negatives, but those are related to education, but the positives are galore. The correct balance is missing; otherwise, MITS would have been the best college in the region.
