Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is the oldest IIT, founded in 1951 and it has maintained its excellence since then. No wonder, it's the dream institute of JEE aspirants, as it provides amazing exposure, networking opportunities and incredible placements to the students. With the brightest young minds all around, we feel the real competition in the institute and it helps us in the long run. Large alumni network, peers and placement opportunities are the strength of this institute.

There are 19 academic departments, 13 schools, and 9 centers of excellence in various fields like AI / ML, Data Science, along with more than 25 research and development units. The curriculum is designed to help you in career in the long run, further studies and research. It's open for all departments including Engineering, Medical, Commerce, Management, Law (LL.B) and many more.

Faculty members including professors and assistant professors are highly educated in their respective departments, and will support you in career and higher studies. Research scholars come here by qualifying GATE and IIT JAM and work under professors while working on their research paper. With modern laboratories and highly experienced professors, students develop understanding of concepts well and excel in their lives.

We have a placement cell called CDC in IIT Kharagpur. It's very supportive. Every year, around 400 companies visit our campus. Placements are conducted in two phases and the highest package can go as high as 3 Crores per annum, while the average is around 20 lakhs per annum. The placement cell engages actively with students and conduct internship and placement seasons. Students bag international offers along with strong alumni network across the globe.

There are 21 hostels in IIT Kharagpur in which 4 are for girls and rest for boys. I live in RP hall (Rajendra Prasad Hall of Residence). Hostel rooms are built well, although it's small sized triple sharing rooms in first and second year. Single rooms are provided for pre-final and final year students. Wi-Fi facility is amazing with speed almost 100 - 150 Mbps. We have library in our hall. There are multiple grand dinners and extracurricular activities taking place all throughout the year. All in one, it's an amazing experience being a student at IIT Kharagpur.

IIT Kharagpur has the India's biggest campus size with over almost 2200 acres of campus rich in greenery and infrastructure. It has a central library which is one of the biggest in whole India. The library contains books from all disciplines, be it Engineering or Medical or Humanities or LL.B or even for people preparing for UPSC. Vikramshila , Takshila and CIC labs are built inside campus for PPT presentations of various societies. We have a student’s gymkhana here that has modern equipment for gym freak students. We have various auditoriums like Nehru auditorium and a number of seminar halls for smooth conduction of guest seminars.

Campus life is amazing here at IIT Kharagpur. Being a student here, you will always get opportunities to excel here and showcase your talent, be it singing, dancing, and sketching, and so on. Inter IIT and GC Competitions are regularly held here for engaging students in extracurricular activities other than studies. There are various clubs and societies in which students can get enrolled from first year and interact with seniors. Fests like Techno-fest called Kshitiz and Spring Fest makes the campus life memorable. Moreover, the bonding between friends, peers and alumni is something that will be with us even after graduation. So, all in all, campus life here is amazing.
