IIEST shibpur (formerly known as Bengal Engineering College or BESU) comes under the tag of Institute of national importance. To get admission, you need to apply through JEE Mains AIR ranks. This institute provides all B.Tech, M.Tech and P.HD courses. It came at 46 positions in recent NIRF ranking. The college was started in the year 1856 making it the 2nd oldest engineering college in India with alumni all around the world in all fields imaginable. It’s a prestigious Institute to come to explore and learn.

According to all the people I have met after coming to this college made me realise that this is one of the institutes with lots of talented people enrolled. There’s high level of competition among peers. The curriculum here is a bit old but students need to add a lot of effort to get good grades and perform good in academics. You will have your hands full during the odd semesters due to high academic pressure.

Faculty of this college are all multi-talented and highly qualified (some are even over qualified) for their profession. If you want to pursue higher degrees, then this faculty is the golden ticket for you. If you are pursuing research with them, it will increase your CV's quality by leaps and bounds. Some are sincere in teaching while others are hard to understand. If you are sincere and love deep knowledge, it’s one of the best places, to be at.

Hostels are a bit old but all facilities are provided. For 1st and 2nd Year students, 4 people have to share a room. Rooms are given with beds, wardrobes, tables, etc. The mess provides food to all students all over India. Variety is offered in the food and it changes according to the students in charge.

This institute has all types of infrastructure, be it for Classrooms, Galleries, Different types of laboratories for different departments, High performance Computer Labs, Libraries, Canteens as well as Grounds. There is a Main administrative building and every department have their own space all connected through series of hallways. Every modern amenity is present in the campus. Some are old, some are new.

Campus of IIEST is 127 acres in size with lush green trees all around. The campus life starts to shine after 6 pm. A lot of fests happen here all round the year, including tech fests, departmental fests, club's fests and most memorable of them all the Cultural fest known as Rebecca. Institute has a lot of clubs venturing in different fields and everyone is free to join in as many clubs as they want. Also sports meet, cultural meets, and religious celebrations happen all the time. Trust me when I say this, it's a total blast!
