Overall this college gives a vibe of complete package with opportunities, challenge, goal achievement and real life experiences. I got admitted in this college based on my JEE rank and also because I wanted to stay in my own state that is Punjab, so I preferred this college over any other option. For other students I would recommend this college too. As I mentioned about the opportunity that this college offers, being one of the top 50 engineering institutes in India, this college offers you a great value. The brand value of NIT is also a thing that matters in today's competitive market.

I get enrolled in textile technology department of this college. This branch deals with the basics to advances of textiles. People may think that this stream deals only with cloth making but advancement in textile have a great potential. Recently Vardhman a pioneer industry in textiles have invested 2000 core rupees in Technical textiles. Even government of India, textile department has forecasted for textile industry to grow to about 20 billion dollars industry in India. Taking about eligibility, you have to pass your intermediate degree with more than 75% marks and score a JEE rank in range of 80,000 if you are from general category. My motive to enroll in this department was not very clear at the beginning, I thought of going to tech field but as I studied about the core branch I get interested in textiles mostly technical textile because it has a great potential in future.

The Faculty in NIT Jalandhar has rich knowledge and close to 16 of them are researchers / scientists. Taking about my department it contains 2 of the 16 faculty I mentioned earlier. My department consists of faculty both young and old aged. The teaching style also varies with that, faculties which are old prefers more of vocal and are used to black-board during teaching and young faculty prefers presentation mode of teaching. The faculty members have good temperament and assess students problem related to studies as well as personal issues like stress handling. Faculty members here are Ph.D graduate and have in-depth knowledge of their field of interest.

The campus covers an area of 184 acres with lush greenery and concrete building coexisting at one place. Campus academic block is a three storey circular building. Most of the financial work and academics are done here. Important officers of college like Director, Registrar, Deans and other's office are present here. There are departmental buildings for each department where they manage daily activities. There are workshop building dedicated to mechanical engineering and computer halls for students. Library is also present here with a capacity to seat 600 students at a time. Other amenities consist of gym, canteens, badminton court, open air theater, central seminar hall.

Overall campus life is decent. Campus contains students from different parts of India whether it is south as Kerala or east as Assam students from almost every region is present here providing a better cultural intermixing. A numerous clubs are present in the college numbering about 28. Club activities consist of dancing, painting, singing, public speaking and sports and many more. I am part of TCA club which is the biggest club of this college. They themselves have many branches for design, poster making, videography, finance and event management. This helps student to become a part of many non academic activities that enhance his management skills, communication skills. For other engagement activities fests are organised. Many sub events like TedX, dance competition, arm wrestling, sport fest are organised over the year making the college life pressure free.
