Manipal University B.Tech Review By Prathamesh Jadhav

I am currently a fourth-year student pursuing B.Tech (CSE) at Manipal University Jaipur. So far, the journey was filled with fun and joy. Teachers here are supportive, and a lot of activities are organised round the semester. You will definitely experience a great campus life over here. My reason behind choosing Manipal was because I was offered CSE branch here and that's what I wanted to pursue.

The academics over here at Manipal University Jaipur is pretty much the same as any other private college across India. To get admission in Manipal, you have to qualify MET-Manipal Entrance Test, through which you will be eligible to take admission in any of the Manipal College across India. Admission is given according to rank-based cutoff for various courses offered across different colleges of Manipal. Apart from this, you can take direct admission by visiting the University before you appear for your board exams, and you can get any of the available branches depending on the availability of seats through direct admission. The college curriculum includes 2 major exams MTE (Mid Term Exam) and ETE (End Term Exam) which has a weightage of 30 and 40 marks respectively and other 30 marks are through internals. The internal exam can include the following: Online quiz (2-3 throughout semester), projects, research papers, assignments (2-5 throughout semester), add-on courses (on presenting the certificate of completion), presentation on various topics related to course, etc. Teachers do provide you with PowerPoint presentations, so you don't have to go through books and increase your stress. The academics would definitely walk you through the basics of all subjects, but you would have to take up online courses to learn them in more detail and be industry ready.

The teachers here are mostly friendly and are ready to help you with anything you need. The teachers are well educated and most of them are Ph.D holders. We are taught in the classes mainly through Power Point presentations. Each class is for about 45 minutes, and we have maximum 5-6 class every day.

The placements start from the fifth or sixth semester. The companies usually offer Internship + PPO (Pre-Placement Offers) format of working opportunities. The regular recruiters are Accenture, Deloitte, Dell, TCS, PayPal, Oracle, Blackrock, Cognizant, Zscaler, and Nokia. Also, a lot of startups also visit the University to hire the students. The range of packages lies from 3-35 LPA. Most of startups hire for about 6-12 LPA. But only the college studies won't male you ready for placements; you have to push yourself to improve your skill sets as well. And most important of all, you have to maintain your CGPA around 8.5 in order to get an opportunity to attend the best interviews without facing any major challenges. CGPA does play a very important role in the placement. There are ample opportunities, but you do need to make a jump for it yourself as well.

I live in the hostel. The rooms are good because as of now only 2 people share the room. And you do have a personal bathroom in your room so that a plus point. All the rooms are air-conditioned. We are provided with 2 separate cupboards, separate beds and different study tables. Housekeeping is available which comes to clean the room weekly and you can send a request to call electrician, housekeeping or plumbing staff, etc. round the clock. The mess food is above average. The only problem with that is the menu is quite repetitive so you would get bored of it after some time. We also have multiple outlets which deliver food to your block till 2:00 am, which include every variety of food from Chinese food, Indian meals, pizza, pasta, waffles, etc. We have multiple basketball courts, badminton court, volleyball court, squash court for the outdoor activities. For the indoor games, we have chess, table tennis and pool tables. We can move freely in and out of hostel between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm but after that we need an out pass signed by the chief warden. There is a 24x7 medical store as well and doctor on call too. Hostel life is really enjoyable here.

The college has a great infrastructure. We have a library which is little small, but the new one is also being built which would be larger. We have 3 different auditoriums which are air-conditioned as well. We have a full cricket ground, football ground, tennis courts, and basketball courts in the campus. The campus is green and fresh; all classrooms are designed to accommodate around 30-70 students. Labs are well maintained and have the necessary equipment. We have a few food outlets here.

The campus life is pretty happening; every day we come across something new. There is a club for almost everything; you name it we have it. The major fest of college is called Onerios. Popular artists like Darshan Raval and Gajendra Verma have visited our university. There is absolutely no ragging system here, rather seniors and juniors enjoy the most crucial years of life together. You can even get a chance for student exchange and study in some other country as well. It is no doubt a rewarding experience here at Manipal, but I would say that the expenses are on a higher side.
