Overall Rating
This is 2nd oldest Engineering institute in India and is famous for its Civil branch. Placements are decent in CS and IT branch and average in core branches. Infrastructure of my institute needs to bring major changes as it is one of the oldest institutions, especially hostels allotted for first year students.
 

Academics Rating
There are 7 UG programs available in my institute. Aerospace Engineering is also available in my institute. The institute is best if you have interest in research. Labs are well maintained and it gets highest funds among all NITs.
 

Faculty Rating
Senior faculties of the institute are very educated. Some are IITian and some have completed their education in foreign universities. Many of our faculties are alumni of the institute due its large alumni network. Overall faculty in my institute is great except first profs.
 

Placement Rating
Placements in IIEST, Howrah is decent, if we compare it with lower NITs but not as good as top 15 NITs. Average package in CS and it department is 15-16 LPA which is decent and 14.2 LPA in ECE. But in core branches like Electrical Mechanical and Mining, the average package is 8-8.5 LPA and only 7.8 LPA in Civil.
 

Hostel Rating
Infrastructure of hostels needs to be improved. Mess food is good as they provide non-vegetarian food 4 days in a week. Students of the hostel make menu for mess.
 

Infrastructure Rating
We have 110 acres greenery campus. Infrastructure of IIEST, Howrah is kind of old. But from second year, academic buildings are good. We have two large playgrounds, basketball ball court, volleyball court, swimming pool, gym, etc. We have a central library ‘Ramanujan library’ in which has huge number of books. There are many old castles present in our campus.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life in my institute is great. We have lots of clubs to join. ‘Rebecca’ is oldest cultural fest in India held in my institute. Every festival celebrated in my institute. Overall you can never feel bored in IIEST Shibpur except in classes.

    IIEST is second oldest Engineering Institute in India. Alumni network is very strong and campus life is too good. Connectivity is also very good Howrah, Salimar and Sealdah stations are very near to the institute and airport is also less than 10 KM away.     IIEST shibpur (formerly known as Bengal Engineering College or BESU) comes under the tag of Institute of national importance. To get admission, you need to apply through JEE Mains AIR ranks. This institute provides all B.Tech, M.Tech and P.HD courses. It came at 46 positions in recent NIRF ranking.     IIEST is one of the oldest engineering colleges of India. It was established in 1856. It is one of best engineering colleges in West Bengal with overall good placement statistics and nice campus life.     IIEST Shibpur established in 1856 is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India, boasting a rich history and located in a picturesque location near the Hooghly river and opposite to the Vidyasagar Setu. It is an institute of national importance under the central government of India. The academics and teaching faculties are quite qualified and helpful.
