My Life at IIT, Roorkee

Overall Rating
The campus is a happy place where all people are like you only. Everybody has worked hard to get into their branches. Hence you get along with everyone as they have also faced the same difficulties that you faced during your preparation. You will remember these 4 years, your roommates and your friends for the rest of your life.
 

Academics Rating
Metallurgy & Materials Engineering is a 4 year course having 8 semesters. Each semester has a mid-semester and an end-semester. To get admission into this branch, you need a minimum of 7000 rank in JEE Advanced exam. Materials Engineering is quite an interesting program in which you learn about everything about a material and if you are interested in Physics then you will definitely enjoy this subject.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty members are good. They are a bit strict in that matter. However, if you attend all of their classes and remain good in the eyes of your professor, he/she will surely give you good internal marks which give you an upper hand in scoring a good CGPA.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is a placement and internship cell in the institute.
 

Hostel Rating
Yeah, there are many hostels inside the campus for residing. Each year student stays in different hostel. For example, 1st year students stay in Rajendra Bhawan.
 

Infrastructure Rating
As you might have seen, IIT Roorkee has a main building known as the Thomson building which is occupied by the administration. There are 2 lecture halls Gargi and Abdul Kalam where most of the lectures take place for the period of 4 years. It also has different departments for each branch.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is something that you'll never forget because of uncountable memories with your friends’ & hostel roommates and fun times everything would be kissed after you graduate. Fests are one of the important parts in one's institute life. Here there are two main fests Cult fest known as ‘Thomso’ and Tech fest known as ‘Cognizance’. Both the fests are amazing as renowned artists from all over the world come and perform here.

    The campus is excellent in terms of infrastructure, academics, environment and overall facilities. It is the oldest engineering institute in Asia with a legacy of more than 175 years.     Studying at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee has been a great experience so far. Due to presence of India's most brilliant minds, the competition here is too tough which provides us an environment to grow naturally. The academics here are very strong, with some professors being descent to some being excellent. Courses are challenging too.     The best thing about IIT Roorkee is the beautiful James Thompson Building, also known as the main building. For every aspirant the motivational aspect is the campus beauty and the campus culture and IITR has both. Full of scenic beauty, Victorian Buildings, closer vacation spots and architecturally advanced structures.
