GITAM University B.Tech Review By Nakka Bhuvan

GITAM is a very renowned university in India, one of the best institutes in Andhra Pradesh. Our college was accredited by NAAC with 'A++' grade recently. My experience at GITAM Visakhapatnam was absolutely fantastic. Be it the academics, student life, extracurricular, fests, guidance provided by the institute for our career opportunities. I chose to join GITAM because the institute provides freedom and opportunities for the students for research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and various other career opportunities.

GITAM provides a wide range of programs across various fields at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. One can get into GITAM by writing the GAT (GITAM Admission Test), which is not very difficult. One can also avail scholarships via scores in GAT exam, JEE Mains, AP EAPCET, TS EAMCET, CUET, UGAT, etc., depending upon recognized state/nationwide examinations. GITAM was also granted an autonomous position by UGC, so the course curriculum and university examinations are under GITAM.

The faculty is extremely qualified and experienced; with not just have academic knowledge, but also industrial experience. One of perks of being a 'GITAMite' is that the students are given the freedom to choose their faculty every semester. Many faculties also provide career guidance and help, such as providing letters of recommendation, which is helpful for higher studies, also guide in placements. A student can also collaborate with a faculty for research work and can also publish research articles in collaboration with the faculty.

There is an active placement cell, called GITAM Career Guidance Center (GCGC). The students are given comprehensive training & guidance for their placement journey. For guidance in placements, the students are given opportunities to attend workshops hosted by alumni at various companies, so students can network with them about opportunities at companies. Also the students are provided with Campus Recruitment Training classes, which are extremely helpful. GCGC also regularly provides internship and placement drive opportunities. Apart from placements, there is dedicated guidance and resources, given to those interested in higher education, entrepreneurship, research work, etc.

The hostel facilities are also very good. The academic blocks, library, etc., are within walkable distance from the hostel. There are 5 hostel blocks for boys, and 3 for girls (GITAM Visakhapatnam). The students can choose between AC and Non-AC rooms, size of hostel room (number of people), etc. There are various retail stores available within college, also near college for hostellers.

The infrastructure of the campus blocks is world class. There are various modern facilities available, which the students can use. The classrooms are also air conditioned smart classrooms, which are beneficial for the student. The student can also make use of high end computers available in the institute, 3D printing machinery, etc. There's also a separate block, called Venture Development Centre, dedicated towards boosting entrepreneurial mindset also guiding student startups. The auditoriums and seminar halls are also well constructed and air conditioned. Sport facilities are also wonderful. There is a cricket, basketball ground, tennis field, badminton court, and a premium gym that is free for students. The library is fantastic; there is really huge building just for that.

The campus life of a GITAMite is one of reasons why every student is happy at GITAM. There are regular fests and events conducted in & around the campus. There are a wide range of clubs, both technical and non-technical clubs. Some of the clubs include Kalakriti which includes theatre, dance, short films, creative arts, E-Club, dedicated to entrepreneurship and startup spirit, Toastmasters Club, to improve one's communication, leadership skills, and a lot more. One can also become part of a committee that is recognized directly by GITAM.
