An Honest review of IIEST, Howrah

Overall Rating
IIEST, Howrah is 2nd oldest Engineering institute of India. Because of this, the alumni network of this institute is very strong. Institute is beside Hooghly river and Kolkata city, which gives it a beautiful view. Campus is lush green as it has lots of trees. As institute is beside Kolkata city, it gives you exposure to explore whole Kolkata city and world’s largest Banyan tree in botanical garden.
 

Academics Rating
These institute offer course like B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD. In these, we got all branch like Computer Science, Metallurgy, Civil, Mining, Electronics and Electrical. One more branch of this institute is Aerospace Engineering. Institute focuses on student welfare to make good and healthy engineer.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty of this institute is good as all professors are Ph.D degree holders. You may have some issue regarding their language as they speak English and very fast Bengali but you all will able to manage. They make good relation with students also.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the institute provides the hostel facilities. Recently, the institute is constructing a new girls’ hostel of 800 capacity and boys’ hostel of 1000 capacity. The institute has approximately 25 more hostels but some of them are too old which is why it is trying to make new hostel as fast. The mess is controlled by students.
 

Infrastructure Rating
As I mentioned campus is old but it is under renovation. Beside this, having two big grounds named ‘Oval’ and ‘Lords’ give us exposure to fit ourselves.
 

Campus Rating
This institute organizes one annual fest named ‘Rebecca’. As the institute provides variety of courses, number of students in institute is approximately 4000. There are all clubs regarding your interest so don't worry about the extra-curriculum activities. One important thing is that the campus is ragging free.

    IIEST is second oldest Engineering Institute in India. Alumni network is very strong and campus life is too good. Connectivity is also very good Howrah, Salimar and Sealdah stations are very near to the institute and airport is also less than 10 KM away. Research opportunities are too good and placements are also very nice.     IIEST shibpur (formerly known as Bengal Engineering College or BESU) comes under the tag of Institute of national importance. To get admission, you need to apply through JEE Mains AIR ranks. This institute provides all B.Tech, M.Tech and P.HD courses. It came at 46 positions in recent NIRF ranking.
