Techno Main Salt Lake B.Tech Review By Shreya Dey

TMSL is situated in Salt Lake, Sector V wherein students come from various locations. TMSL provides many courses (B.Tech, BBA, BCA, BHM, BMS, Diploma and Polytechnic courses). There are many buildings, enough classrooms, labs, seminar halls, smart classrooms. Well, one of my relative studied here and gave an insight on many things, it made me choose TMSL. I think institute is a place to explore and study; so TMSL would be a great place for that. I would recommend my juniors to study here. TMSL is ragging free. There are many protocols, enough CCTVs everywhere, anti-ragging committee members, etc. who helps the students who have any problems; there are professors and administration that is constantly monitoring that decorum is maintained by the students.

I studied ECE at TMSL. I would say it’s the best course to study. As its Electronics and Communication Engineering, you can learn and study about hardware and software both. I enrolled thinking this too. Well, the syllabus is huge as per MAKAUT guidelines but it's worth it. As students are rushing to study CSE and IT; ECE opens a new path. Students have to go through WBJEE counseling to get admission here. Students can come here through WBJEE, JEE ranks. There is Management Quota too, where they check ranks of any of the mentioned exams, board results, etc. and you can get admission directly in your preferred program or course.

Well, when I was in first year, I was under Basic Science and Humanities. The teachers were very helpful and friendly. As now I am in ECE faculty, I would say it’s the best. I can clearly say that teachers and students are like family. Teachers care about every student and focus on their improvement in academics. There are various ongoing projects too under professors of ECE. They have an experience of more than 20 years and most of them studied in IIT, JU, and NIT. I can't say many things about other faculties as I'm in ECE but my mutual friends told me they are good. I learnt Mechanical workshop and Civil drawing in the first year and the professors of Mechanical, Civil were good too.

There is a placement cell in TMSL. Faculties teach according to the course outcome and program outcome which helps us after 3-4 years during the placements. They guide us about where to apply for interviews, etc.

There are hostel facilities in our Institute but it's not in the institute premises. It's 750m away from our institute. They provide good food, Wi-Fi facility and other required facilities for students. The price is also reasonable. It's less than other PGs.

There are 5-6 buildings for different types of courses. They have a central Library which provides books for every semester. They have departmental libraries too. There are two playgrounds for activities and other occasions. They have seminar halls as well. In all the buildings, there are enough lifts which are helpful for students and faculty members to reach the higher floors. There are labs, smart classrooms, and normal classrooms for each department separately. There are clubs for each purpose. There is a cultural club (Ankuran), technical club (Geekonix), sports club (Techotkarsh), educational club (Samarth), social club (Samaritans), literary club (Eclectica), and IIC club for students which is monitored by the teachers. These clubs also have sub-clubs which includes every department’s participation.

"Institute is a place to explore your interests and expand knowledge". I would say that TMSL is the place which a fresher is searching for. The fests here are the best. As there are 7 club; each of which organises a fest. They invite various Bollywood artists after hearing the students’ opinion. They bring stand-up comedians, RJs, educational motivators in the fests. Farewell and fresher’s programs are organized with great gratitude and care. There are various sports events going on round the year. They have facilities for football, cricket, tennis, badminton, chess, etc., and other fun activities for the students. Students who are GATE, CMAT aspirants receive guidance and advice from various experienced educational motivators who come to our institute for academics related seminars. Other than this, there are prom nights held by various clubs. There are technical Hackathons which include inter-institutional contests. Students from many prestigious institutes come to TMSL to take part in competitions.
