JNGEC is a college which is on the affordable side and provides great education. It is one of the best government colleges in Himachal Pradesh after NIT and IIT. Getting admission is also relatively easy and can be taken by either JEE Mains, CUET or HPCET examination. Faculties of the college are well educated and have Ph.D and masters degrees and are pretty helpful. College is situated at a height from the main city which results in fewer shops in campus and students have to go down from the hill to go to market. No bus facility is started as of now.

JNGEC offers 5 courses in bachelor's degree namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Textile Engineering, and Computer Science Engineering. One can get admission by counseling to qualify which you have to gain the cutoff of either JEE mains CUET or HPCET examination after which you are allotted seats in the colleges. JNGEC is also the only college in Himachal Pradesh which provides specialization in AI&ML.

All the faculty of JNGEC is well educated and has Ph.D and master’s degrees in their subjects. Every department has their assigned HOD'S and assigned teachers. Faculty is helpful and helps when required but some of the teachers can be a bit on the nerve. Teaching style of most teachers is good and students understand what they are saying but some of the teachers are not that good in conveying their thoughts.

Yes, the college has a placement cell. Students who have qualified the placement process get placements. Some of the students get pretty good placement offers.

At the moment there is only boy’s hostel in the college and it is pretty good. Rooms and the basic infrastructure are very good and well maintained. Hostel has its own badminton court, common room, study room and gym. Mess of the hostel is also pretty good and menu is diverse and most of the times taste good too. Hostel is the best part of the college. Many events like sports and other are also held on hostel level.

College has 5 blocks namely the A, B, C, D and E block. All of which are well maintained. Most of the classrooms are good but some of the classes are not so good in terms of quality. College has a 3 floor library, canteen and an open air theatre in which most of the events are held. All of the labs have the basic required equipment related to the course. Campus is pretty good according to the fee of the college.

Campus Life of college is good and you get to interact with everyone mostly throughout the course. Crowd is mostly good in this college. There are many clubs in college like singing, dancing, coding, etc. Many fests are held in college, the main two are TWASK and SANGAM. Major festivals or some special eves are also celebrated in the college. Sports are also held in college at very basic level. A inter college sports meet is held in HPTU Hamirpur in which selected students go to HPTU Hamirpur to compete with each other.
