GEU is one of the most technically sound universities that you will see. All that because many rich brats have made GEU as their den. BBA has 6 sections and each section has 100 students. A batch of 600 is never easy to place but university hardly cares as they care for is the fees that they command. As I belong to Dehradun, and GEU being a famous college, there was no second though at all to study here. Not only positive that I heard but with 77% in HSC, there were not many universities that were ready to offer me a seat. Admission process is simple as the college staff will help you out right from the beginning and these days the physical forms have disappeared and everything was done digitally. Even the studies and projects were done on laptops and the classrooms too had projectors to take advantage of the big screen that the classes had. I was not entirely displeased with the university but if you don’t get placements, you will start hating the good areas of the university as well.

If I speak about the course, it was way advanced than many of the universities like Symbiosis, Pune or NMIMS’s BMS program. I compared our course with all those colleges and GEU has rather more advanced system and syllabus. There were way too many subjects and attendance not that strict but one has to attend because finding proper coaching for the subjects taught in BBA is not possible in Doon. The city has the best colleges and universities but not as good coaching.

The best educated people can never be the best teachers but GEU feels differently and they have hired some of the most educated people on the planet. They came and read the slides which we already had in our mails. After every topic they will ask any doubt, but even though I had I ignored as one just have to go through last 3-4 years papers and you will be through to the next semester. Faculties were not a guiding force but not as strict and would not even worry even if he made fun of them behind their back.

This part has ruined all the good things that the university offers. Best course material and solved some of the best case studies but still when it came to placements, the placement cell hardly did much. Calling 50 companies is not enough as student can’t pitch alone on their behalf but at GEU, we were left on our own. We all wore blazers and went with confidence but always knew we were behind on what we will be asked. As a BBA student, I didn’t even know the sectors that are divided into. ITC falls under FMCG sector was actually answered to me by one of the interviewers and I was done there itself. College has to teach beyond books to make student confident when they appear for the interview.

GEU has more hostels than any other universities in Doon. It’s because, in GEU, you will find students from all North Indian states. South Indian students glad are not here because the weather they come from, can’t survive the cold wave here. Hostels were nice and locals were not allowed so I made some friends who get me in by some or the other ways. The rooms were spacious and with all the facilities attached in the rooms. Geysers, hot water, RO water, and obviously the nice food that included variety of soups every night at the dinner from October to February.

GEU is one of the largest universities and is located near the cantonment area. I used to get a shuttle auto from Ghanta Ghar that takes directly to the university. Just like Ghanta Ghar, you can get all means of transport to reach here. From inside it’s bigger than imaginations of any stretch. It’s stretched in acres and through the way; you will see some nice buildings, a hostel area where nearly 2000 students stay. Clean washrooms in each building, nice auditoriums, and all the sporting facilities from cricket, football, tennis, to volleyball. Now 2000+ students at the campus, the university needs multiple food outlets and the university has four operational canteens at the campus and just near the campus students can enjoy around 20 food item stalls.

Team building was taught at the campus and I should thank the university for that. The taste of the pudding is in eating though and what looks glamorous from outside has very little to do when it comes to placements. I think you should get that beyond me now because the college festivities were awesome and the crowd of GEU got the mojo going at every event that the university hosted.
