Auro University BJMC Review By Nishant Kanani

Auro University is definitely as big a university as South Gujarat University. Some of the courses that are available at Auro University are not even offered by South Gujarat University. After giving a lot of thought on which course to choose after HSC or what to do for a secured future, we friends met and decided to do Mass Comm from Auro as the course and its prospect seemed quite lucrative. One-year BJMC course was initially not approved by parents but they had to surrender against the wishes of their son. Today they are proud that they did so because I have a good enough job and more than my bread and butter, I can take care of my parents as well. One big disappointment was 2lakh fees for a year as no other college or University in India charge that much for a one-year course.

The course required exposure as books had the matter but to have practical knowledge of it was more important than learning what’s in the books. The best part of the course was that we just had to attend the college for 6 months as final score had equal weightage of the internship that we did. Internship was as tough as anything because we were paid a petty stipend and in return our work was not time bound. We can be called at any point in time and disappointing the ones who hired us as intern would result in negative feedback from them. Thus, our learning was beyond classrooms and one that had no time limitations.

Faculty’s role was not confined to the classrooms as they would keep a track of how we are performing at our internship program. Keeping a track of almost 200 students wasn’t easy but our faculty did that. Faculty’s hopes were lying on our shoulders as this course was started in 2016 and we joined it in 2017. Means we were the second batch and after a successful season with their first batch the faculties also got better and students definitely became brighter under the lights which were put on by our faculty’s.

If you have managed to impress the ones where you did internship then the university was not required to bother as most of us had some or the other offer straight from where we were put us an intern. However, the work that was given and in return the amount that was offered had a lot of difference. In 10-12k who will work 24*7 and this idea of starting working at such an early age was not even approved by my parents. This time I had to surrender to my parent’s wishes and they asked me to carry on with my studies. The whole story by me is to tell that if you are ok with a small pay cheque but doing it as a learning curve then the placement will never be an issue for BJMC course from Auro University.

Hostel was near the staff parking area. Means around 200 meters from our college building but no one walked from the hostel to our department as all the students who enrolled for this course were localites. Hostel for sure must be good as all the other facilities of the university were great and why would hostel doesn’t have features that only Auro University has in entire South Gujarat.

If one has seen Surat, they must have seen a lot of flashy schools but colleges and universities are still missing. Auro is the answer for all that as the University is as good as any university in India at least in terms of infrastructure. My sister studies in Noida and even she said in terms of Infrastructure, Auro is much better. Classrooms were futuristic as we would have never imagined that in 21st century we will have such classrooms. Students wing that always had students of all the colleges of the university again was big and had all the facilities to rehearse an entire event before it goes live. There were ball rooms, a small gym, and a beautiful playground to complete the infrastructure that has almost everything to have fun during the college life.

Life at Auro was little tough as our college had the morning classes. 7 am classes meant that I had to leave home by 6.15 as it was some 10 miles from my place. From 7 to 11.30, we had non-stop classes and practical sessions and unlike other colleges of the university, we could enjoy the other benefits of the university only after our classes were over. Our department students were little boring to be honest as almost all of them would rush to parking as soon as the final lecture was over. I hardly enjoyed the beautiful facilities of the campus and that’s probably because of the boring people I befriended.
