Assam Engineering College is a state government aided college. It is one of the most reputed technical colleges in Assam. AEC is one of the oldest technical colleges to be established in the Northeast region hence it has a name of its own. The college is known for its remarkable results and outstanding performance by the students in the past years. Although the hype of the college is going down as most of the students from Assam prefer to study outside of Assam. AEC has good crowd and campus life which is essential for the growth of an individual in a college life. So, if one is looking for a B.Tech college, AEC is a good option.

AEC is a technical college which provides B.Tech, M.Tech, and MCA degrees to the students. Under B.Tech, the college has various departments and branches which students can choose from such as Civil, Electrical, Computer Science, Chemical, Electronics Telecommunications, Instrumental, and Industrial Production. In order to take admission in the college, the students need to take an Entrance Exam called CEE for the students from Assam and secure a score of 1000 and above and undergo through 3 rounds of counseling.

AEC is known for its faculty in the entire state. They have very experienced professors and associates. Most of the teachers are Ph.D holders from reputed institutes and have very outstanding academic background. Teachers are very Interactive and helpful not just for academics related queries but also for personal issues. Being from Electrical branch, I can say that the faculty of Electrical Engineering is one of the best in the whole college. They have dedicated teachers and the course is always completed on time. They are also very punctual. All the labs are also conducted very efficiently.

Yes, we do have placement cell in our college. Currently various companies come to our college such as Indian Oil, etc. Although college placement rate is still low but it has been increasing every year. For being able to sit in placement an individual need to have a consistent CGPA of 6 or more.

In total our college has 9 hostels from which 1 to 7 and 9 are hostels for boys and hostel no. 8 is for girls. Hostel no. 9 is the newly constructed hostel for 1st year boys, in order to prevent them from going through any ragging or bullying from seniors in hostel. We have yearly hostel wise competition where all the hostels compete against each other for the title of best hostel.

AEC is spread through an area of 1500 square ft., consisting of various buildings for different departments. It has a quite large campus area with greenery all over the campus. Our college is located deep inside the Jalukbari forest which provides a peaceful ambience and is very essential for students and there studies. The college has 3 large ponds which increase the beauty of the whole campus. Now coming to the academic block of the college, the Civil and Electrical departments are situated in the main building opposite to which is the SWD building where the Chemical department is located. Our college also has a very large canteen which is open from 10 am to 5 pm every day. Overall there is every facility one can ask for in the college.

The crowd in AEC is quite good if you engage in various clubs and activities. In the first year of the college, you get choose to be in various clubs according to your liking such as Dancing, Drama, Debate, Sports and also Gaming. If one joins any of these clubs, they can make friends very easily and enjoy the campus life to the fullest. Our college conducts various fests every year which anyone can participate and can win prizes. The main fest of our college is the ‘Pyrokinesis’ fest which is one of the largest fest in the entire Northeast part.
