On the first day of the orientation program one of my seniors told me very wise words. When you walk in at LSR, you are just being yourself but when you graduate from here you will become someone that you would have never thought you can become. Students handle every damn thing at the college here. Girls here are so humble that an outsider like me never felt one. Most girls here are from different parts of India as only the top ranked girls can have the entry here. After coming here underwhelming word almost went out of my dictionary. Only problem that one can have here is that too many ideologies run here. One can understand that intelligent people sit together there will be difference of opinions and sometimes it led to fights and quarrels which was the only negative that I can speak about LSR. I enjoyed every bit of my time here as it was an all-feminist fanfare.

Since the college comes under DU, the course and all remains the same so rather than discussing that, I would tell you the things that other than academics LSR taught me. How to take stand in life was the important academic learning that I had at LSR campus. Every morning we will have discussion and group chat on any new event happening in the world. Like I was in my final year when demonetisation happened and we gave a string opinion. Even media houses walked in and interviewed us for our opinion. Facts to me are a very stubborn thing because one can argue that even though the girls are top ranked girls from India and still, they don’t top at DU level. It’s a shame but more than bookish thing we learn on how to build and shape our life for future and maybe that’s the reason why girls from LSR have hardly topped at the University exams.

Faculties of LSR have made more than a significant contribution not just for the girls in general but to the world as well. Our faculties have represented our college at the global stage and today LSR is seen as one of the most sought-after colleges in India because of them. Faculties of LSR merit a place in the top faculties of the world and when I type this, I have no doubts in saying that they are one of the top mentors that I have come across. A round of applause from my side for the wonderful faculties of LSR.

Placement cell of LSR is not just helping the girls to get placed but also to have master’s classes entrances for free at the campus. For placements companies like E&Y, Citibank, Air India offered top jobs to the girls of LSR. No other colleges of DU offer’s placement like LSR. For B. Com (Hons) students the average placement was 6-7 LPA. Placement percentage too equally good as around 70% of the girls were placed through campus placements.

LSR Hostel or the residence hall is available only for the first two years as the strength of the college has increased and the residence hall doesn’t have enough rooms to accommodate all. The hostel was as vibrant as the college as the hostel had its own committees. Girls were divided in groups and they have to run the mess in a given budget for 2 weeks and then the role was assigned to other girls. The one with highest votes were given 2 weeks extra every year as food always had variety as there was a competition of winning the votes. Hostel doesn’t just have the students but along with room there are few flats for teachers as some of the teachers also stay at the campus. The security of the college is unquestionable as 9 pm is in time and warden makes sure that she has her roll call done before 9.30pm. Hostel parties and fun was next level as there was no problem in, we making noises till late night. The warden or anyone else never had issues with such things.

LSR campus is beautiful and as per Delhi college standard it was average in area but because of the lesser students, the college never felt small to me. The college is spread in 5 acres of land and has a dialogue hall, student activities center, a nice stage, and an SBI Bank ATM branch. The college is located in Lajpat Nagar which is one of the posh areas of the city. The college has a sports ground, Nescafe bar and a nice café that served a lot of variety.

LSR is known for its societies and one such society was WUSC (World University Service Society). The girls of LSR have always raised voice for humanity and that is one society of the college that has earned the most recognition for its work. Many ex-students of the college have stayed in touch with this society after leaving the college. Last but not the least; it was the fest that all students from across the country wait for. Luckily videos are out of fests on social media upfront and becomes viral immediately. If you want to be a part of one of the greatest colleges in India than LSR can work fine for you.
