Auro University BJMC Review By Shail Sanghvi

Auro University is one of the best private universities and because it was at my hometown, I had no qualms but to join it. BJMC is just a one-year course at the university after 12th and this made me even more excited as I enquired about the course in many universities and most of the universities have two-year course. I was a man in hurry and that was also one of the reasons why I joined Auro. From education to freedom of speech, everything was good about Auro. Mostly the locals have acquired it as the university’s wings are still attached to Surat and nearby districts. Placements are poor and that probably is one of the reasons why students hesitate to join this university. If that part is taken care of then there’s nothing wrong this university has done to make students have the best of time.

There are many media houses in the city and 6 months of studies and six months of practical training is more than enough to get the degree. I believe this was a fair concept as more than the book it’s the knowledge that counts and rather than extending it for long for no reason, the college has done well to cut short the course and award us the degree. The fees was at the higher end as nearly 2 lakhs for a one-year course was high but we were given enough exposure and internship opportunities at some of the prestigious organizations like GTPL, Sandesh, and Gujarat Samachar.

Many media house tycoons from all over the country were invited to take the lectures. College did have a faculty in place but they lacked both skills and knowledge but the internship program covered up all that. So, no problem with the faculties because even though they had a lesser idea they made us bank on the people who are experts in this field.

Even after the degree we were offered jobs of intern as I saw many PG students of same field were directly taken for a permanent job. This was it for me to look up for PG rather than doing an intern position job at almost free of cost. Along with nice internships, it will be good if the university asks such media houses to even hire the students because the companies where we were put as an intern has had enough idea of our potential. They were ready to offer us internship roles but not willing to give us high end jobs was discouraging.

There’s a three-star hotel oh sorry hostel at the campus for both boys and girls. Rooms are few as not many students stay at the hostel. Firstly, the fees and secondly the college location. It is connected well as there’s an auto stand next to the college and BRTS stop just a kilometer from the college. The metro work is also on so soon the university might have a metro station as well. Food I have no idea as I never met anyone who was staying at the hostel. There were some but staying in the city can be more affordable and a better idea as well.

When you go to Auro University, you have to cross VNSGU (Veer Narmad South Gujarat University). If one sees that they must be like, that when we have a world class university in Surat, why head over too far. All these thoughts will vanish as soon as you enter Auro University. The University is modern with all the modern facilities. The parking is more than sufficient as nearly 1000 two-wheelers and 400 cars can be parked in the parking area. The buildings are all white but shine better than the lights. From inside the flooring to the classrooms everything is cleaned twice a day. The gardens of the university are better than any other gardens of the city. Playing facilities are again world-class and so is the canteen that serves Dosas to Misal. Infrastructure among all the colleges of the city, Auro has the best.

Our course was such that we spent just six months at the campus. Most of the events that were held had to be missed. Many institutes of the university had their own events but our department lacks there. Student involvement from our institute was not high and not many students of other institutes even knew the students of BJCM. The annual cultural program was the only event that I attended and looking at the crowd and the frenzy that was there, one can only say that this university might give competition to the universities of Ahmedabad, Mumbai or Delhi in years to follow.
