The syllabus that Amrita follows is always updated. This university updates its syllabus every 5 years. To get admission in Amrita for BBA, B.Com or any integrated courser you have to attend their entrance test and you should have a minimum of 50% in your 12th class. The rank list for admission is based on the score obtained by the student in the entrance test. Students who have obtained high ranks are also awarded scholarships.

Most of the faculty members in the Commerce and Management department of Amrita hold a Ph.D degree. They have years of experience in the field of teaching. Their teaching style and effectiveness varies from faculty to faculty. Amrita is not a college which focuses on spoon feeding. It pushes the students to learn by their own with the help of the faculties. So people who were spoon fed in school might find it difficult at first.

Yes, this university has a placement department known as the ‘Corporate and Industry Relations’ (CIR). This department manages the placement activities of the university. Students from all the batches start to receive placement training from the very first year itself. It conducts classes to pass the test held by companies at the time of placements. It also includes the syllabus of competitive exams such as CAT. This helps the students who are pursuing their higher studies. The department provides mock interview sessions, GD sessions and various soft skill sessions to prepare you for of the interviews.

The hostel for the first year boys is situated on the Ashram side. The hostel of the freshers has double occupancy rooms with an attached bathroom, but there are no TVs. The hostel have Wi-Fi facilities, but it’s just average. The drawback of the fresher’s hostel is that it is pretty far from the campus. You have to walk a good distance to reach the campus. The food here is below average. You will have the same idli sambar every single day. The girl’s hostel is near the campus. The curfew time for boys is at 9 p.m. and for girls is at 5.30 p.m.

The infrastructure of the campus is very good. The main academic building of the campus has 3 elevators and more than 5 staircases. Every class has more than 10 fans. The classrooms are very spacious and have good ventilation so you won’t feel congested. All the classrooms have Wi-Fi connectivity, projectors and white boards. There are enough power sockets on each table so that you can charge your laptop or phones in the classroom itself. The library of this university is very huge, having a wide range of books. There is a shuttle court inside the academic block. The campus has sports complex areas with a basketball court and a ground where you can play cricket or football. This university also has parking space for the student vehicles. All the floors have AC halls, drinking water facilities, canteens, common rooms and plenty of washrooms.

The overall campus life at Amrita is very good. Clubs are usually for the Engineering students. There are very little club options for the Non-Engineering students. But there are other students groups such as Ayudh, where you can participate in various activities such as cleanup drives, marathons, debates, etc. The university also conducts various cultural competitions and sports events such as inter-campus and inter-university tournaments. Almost all festivals are celebrated in the campus. This university organises the national level multifest, ‘Vidyut’ which happens every year. It a 3 day national level fest featuring various competitions, workshops, auto shows and concerts featuring Bollywood singers.
