GCELT Kolkata placement should be improved

After getting an average rank in WBJEE, I got admitted into the Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology. At first, I thought this college will be same as other ordinary colleges. But after completing my first year I can say that the academics are good and the faculties are very skilled in their field. But after going through everything, students are not getting placements. I know that experience and learning is most important but after all placements are what we have been seeking from the start, it motivates us to go through every experience. So I thought you should choose this college carefully on the bases of your requirements.

In this college we have 3 streams to choose from; CSE, IT and LT for B.Tech. I'm in the CSE branch. You can choose this stream if you are interested in learning about new technologies and are very passionate about tech. As in here you will learn about the recent technologies. You have to complete your 11th and 12th standard to understand everything with clarity.

Here, the faculty members are divided as per their specific interest and field of experience. But there is a one problem, we don't have enough time in each semester to understand everything and complete the syllabus. That's why I got XP on one subject. Anyway, the teachers are good enough here.

We have a placement cell, but I don't think students are getting any placements. That is the only reason why students are preparing for M.Tech in different colleges.

There are residential facilities at my college. Here, the hostel life is very good and interesting. We have two beds in one room. Food facilities are provided. The infrastructure is very good because there are new hostels.

Our college is 100+ years old. I expected some repairing every once in awhile, but that didn't happen. However, you will not be facing any problem after getting here. We have an average library for everyone. You will get enough books for your semester.

As this college contains only three streams, we don't have many students here. But they are so friendly, that it feels like we’re a family. When the sports festival is arranged on our small ground, it is filled with energy and enjoyment. We have some special clubs like robotics, music, dance, etc. This year our student body arranged a cultural fest which was the best fest of all time in our college. Overall, this college is filled with good things except the placement part.
