Chandigarh University is one of the best universities in North Eastern India. It offers a variety of courses and placement opportunities. A lush green campus of 150 acres with 3 playgrounds, 21 departmental blocks, cafeterias, auditoriums, medical centers, and central and departmental libraries. The girls' hostels are inside the campus and the boys' hostels are outside the campus. Bus facilities are there to drop the students to the departments whose hostels are far from the block. Top-class amenities and infrastructure are provided to the students. Every course offers exchange programs in foreign universities, industry exposure, workshops, seminars, and projects that help the students to excel in their lives.

I have done a Masters in Industrial Microbiology. It is a very fascinating course as the students who are interested in life sciences can learn about the human life processes as well as the microbes. It has sub-subjects which include genetics, immunology, virology, bioprocess engineering, biochemistry, dairy technology, microbial technology, and various other disciplines in science. Industrial microbiology provides the opportunity to understand the usage of microbes in industrial processes and manufacturing techniques. To get admission in this course, one should have at least 55% aggregate marks in graduation with a science background or if enrolling in the bachelor’s stream, one needs to have 55% marks in the 12th class. The admission process is very easy. The student can fill the admission form online through the college website or else can fill offline too. The course offers various job opportunities like role of industrial microbiologist, wet lab researcher, R&D researcher, food and opportunities for higher studies.

The faculties are highly qualified. In each department, all the faculties are PhD holders. The teacher teaches in a very interactive way through PowerPoint presentations. Each class has installed projectors. The faculties engage students in seminars after the completion of a chapter to understand the conceptual clarity. They take surprise tests to assess the knowledge of the students. The practical lab practices enhance the understanding of the concepts.

Placement cell is there for every course. Each year top companies like Google, Deloitte, TCS, Accenture, IBM, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Cognizant, etc. recruit many students. Almost 96% students get placed through in drive placements. The highest package offered was 16 lakhs whereas the average being 8 lakhs and the lowest being 6 lakhs.

Both girls and boys hostels are available in the campus. Triple sharing and 4 sharing rooms are available. Each room is provided with cupboards, chair, table and study space for each student. Air coolers are provided in each room. Some rooms have attached washroom whereas others have common washrooms. Geysers are installed in each washroom. Each hostel has lush green garden area with playgrounds. Gym facility is open to the hostellers from 6-9 am in the morning and 4-8 in the night. The gym has a professional trainer and the equipments are cutting edge. There is a common room, beauty parlor, medical room, mess, and a shop for essential things and foods. Wi-Fi is installed in every floor. Security is very strict in the hostel. The food quality is very good. There are different menus for each day in breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Fests are held in the hostel also.

The infrastructure of Chandigarh University is exceptional and provides top-class amenities. The buildings are a class in itself. All the classrooms are smart classrooms with projectors. IT departments have centralized AC. Research infrastructure is very modern. The labs are equipped with top-notch technological instruments to facilitate the ease of doing the research. Central libraries and departmental libraries consist of reference books of every course as well as books for competitive exams also. Library facility is open to the hostellers till 10 pm on permission from the warden.

The campus life at CU is exceptional. It is a home away from home. Different types of workshops, conferences, and exhibitions are held in a semester. The fresher students are given a welcome fest. Many celebrities come to the university for shooting as well as in the fest to promote the films. Entertainment is throughout the year. A Student welfare center is there to provide students with any help. Dance clubs, Singing clubs, and nukkad natak groups are some of the extracurricular activities on the campus.
