Campus Review of Savitribai Phule Pune University

Overall Rating
My overall experience of Savitribai Phule Pune University is good. I choose Pune University because of its academic excellence, affordability, and diversity. Pune university offers good academic learning and decent placement. University hosts lot of students from other states and even international students which offers diversified learning opportunities. One of the best features I found about Pune University is its affordability.
 

Academics Rating
Pune university offers various courses including Master of Arts, Master of Science, M.Com, and various Interdisciplinary courses. Courses are mostly designed according to industry standards to make candidate industry suitable. Admission is primarily given through Online entrance examination, which includes subject knowledge and aptitude. An eligibility criterion of master courses is qualifying Graduation.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty members are one of the best in their discipline. They have long experience in subject which makes students learning more enriching. Senior faculty is mostly doctorate and junior faculty has cleared UGC-NET. Student and faculty ratio is good. Faculty teaching style is more focused on student-faculty interaction and usage of case studies, book discussion, etc.
 

Placement Rating
Pune University has Placement cell. Placement cell does help students acquiring jobs in the industry but it differs across the departments. Generally majority students of department like chemistry, computer science, and other science discipline get a job. But humanities department students have to rely on faculty reference. The cell helps in interview preparation.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel is provided to students on merit basis right after provisional admission is taken. Hostel fee is around 6000/-. Mess fee is around 2240/- month. Mess is bad. Insects have been found in hostel mess. Hostel rooms and facilities are decent. For all years rooms are given on sharing basis. Washing machine facility is provided to students in hostel premises. Open gym facility, library, basketball ground, volleyball ground are also there in the hostel premises.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is one the best part of Pune University. University is spread in more than 600 acres of land. It is like campus situated in nature. We have monkeys, peacocks, and other animals in a campus. Majority Departments are given separate building. Every department has good infrastructure comprising labs, separate library, and classroom.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is one of the drawbacks of Pune university. Most courses are intensive which leaves very little time for other activities. Events generally happen at department level. All departments organise sports cultural events in winter period. University level events are less in number. We have some social causes club, poem clubs, etc. Club culture is in an early phase in university. Campus life at university might disappoint.

  • PUMBA is amazing

    I was in dilemma as I gave all the entrance exams that are there in this country to do MBA from top universities. Pune was the city I was targeting and luckily got admissions in of the top most B-School of the city. Yes, the city has Symbiosis, and MIT’s but PUMBA if not equivalent is also no less than them.     If you want to get involved, you will not find a college better than PUMBA. PUMBA is entirely a student-driven institute. From fests to workshops, students brag maximum rights to do it the way they want. If you compare PUMBA fees with institutes that are similarly ranked or ranked close to PUMBA, there's a much difference.     My answer to PUMBA may sound a little diplomatic, but there are indeed various good things about the institute that I didn't even though twice before taking admissions here. Entrances are mandatory, and PUMBA is a serious college, so one needs to score seriously good to have a seat here. The grass is not green until you clear the GD & PI rounds as the competition is high, and from over 1000 students who appeared for GD & PI, only 180 were selected.
