Basically I joined botany department of North east's top university because of my keen interest in the subject. The selection is based on the GUPGET entrance test. After clearing the exam I got admission in 2021 for a two year course program. The university provides a good ambience as compared to other colleges of North East. For research purpose, different tools and equipment are there. But department will make you busy in its own curriculum so if you want to focus on future goals, then prioritize your time and make a balance between college and your own program and your own studies for further future goals.

M.Sc in Botany is a two year course program. For admission you have to clear the entrance test conducted by the university itself. For this a student should have a B.Sc degree in Botany from an UGC recognised university. If you want to be a researcher or a professor of life science then this program nourishes your knowledge in depth. Also doing M.Sc from a well recognised government university will enhance your career and your CV as well.

Style of teaching varies within professors. Some professor will teach you in a subject oriented manner and few of them will encourage in your future perspective and goals. But since it's well known fact that if a student wants to be expertise in his subject, he has to put his own efforts as well. Professors will guide you but they won't spoon feed you. That's a big difference between a college and a university.

Gauhati University (Botany department) doesn't provide any placement facilities. Students have to clear national level exams like GATE, CSIR NET, ICMR, DBT, etc. for placements as a Ph.D scholar or a professor.

Well I was a day scholar so don't have much information about hostel life. But as according to my hostel friends, girl’s hostel is comparatively good then boys hostel.

Infrastructure is good, labs are well equipped and smart class facilities are also there. Library service of the university is moderate. I will suggest issuing books from department library; it gives you moderate options to issue books from local and international author both. No need to buy expensive international authors book as department will provide you.

Gauhati University campus ambience is popular for its greenery and natural vibes. Campus temperature is always less than the city's temperature as it is surrounded by greenery and also the Botanical Garden of Gauhati University is famous as it has few endemic species which are unique in its own way.
