I was passionate about studying law from a very young age, and its fondness inspired me to take the CLAT exam. By securing AIR 2600, I got Chanakya National Law University. It is a Central University and is among the reputed members of National Law Universities. The reasons for choosing this college were its close proximity from my hometown and its reputation, which make an appropriate decision for my legal studies and a good opportunity for my career. My overall experience at this university was good. Although this university currently does not stand in the list of Top 10 NLUs. The major turning point is the recent change of Vice Chancellor, which has marked a lot of improvements and refocused approach towards academic pursuits and infrastructural developments. It brought an entirely new wave of optimism. CNLU comprises of a lot of committees like moot court committees, debating committees, etc. which provide wide range of opportunities for personality development. It provides us with the required skills of the legal profession. It is good to study in this college overall. Yes, it is true that it still needs improvements in many areas like faculty recruitment and placements.

The courses offered at Chanakya National Law University are integrated law courses like B.A.LL.B, BBA.LL.B, and LL.M. I am currently pursuing a BBA.LL.B (Hons.). It is a course which offers you subjects of BBA and LLB both. So, it’s a mix of graduation and law that we get to do after taking the 12th exam. Admissions in National Law Universities of India are allotted based on the CLAT ranking. You have to appear for the CLAT examination and clear it. Based on all India rank you will get into a National Law University, which is a great option for people passionate about law. Any person who has passed 12th with 40% can appear for the CLAT exam and there is no age restriction in it, also you can appear for the exam any number of times you wish to appear. The simple motive of coming to this college is studying law after which you have various career options like judiciary, corporate, and litigation. You can also appear for many government exams.

Faculty members teaching our course have different backgrounds. They all have the expertise required in the subject. The teachers teaching BBA courses have done PhD and are expert in that subject. Teachers who teach law have expertise in their subject. They all get interviewed by our registrar SP Singh sir and they get selected as per their merit. The quality of their teachings is mixed. Some of the teachers are very good at what they teach and make the subject understood in a fun way. Some of the faculty members teach below average.

Yes, we do have placement cell in Chanakya National Law University. The cell is quite active and run by faculty and student conveners. Yes, the cell does help but the placement numbers in our college is not that great. People have to try off-campus placement and approach the companies themselves. The highest package went up to 16 Lakhs offered by ICICI bank.

Hostel provides single and double occupancy rooms. Up to second year you are allotted double occupancy rooms in which you have to share it with your roommate and then from 3rd year you get to live in single rooms. The mess food is average. The hostel rooms are not too large. They only provide you a bed, table, chair, and a cupboard. You have to bring your other necessities item yourself. The hostel rooms are recently painted. There is TV in the mess.

The campus area is around 24 acres with a lush green background. There are two academic blocks: Academic Block A and Academic Block B. There is a beautiful library named Nishant Nilyam on the campus which has a bounty of books and also contains various sections such as reading rooms where students form study groups. There is a section named Textbook Section where you can peacefully read books. So, there are two AC in every classroom. There is a smart board and smart teaching panel for teachers, the whole classroom is technologically rich.

The overall campus life is fun. There are separate messes for girls and boys hostel. Gym is present in both hostels. There are canteens in both the hostels and an atrium for having food. There is Nescafe near the academic block, which has larger varieties of food present like patties, pizza burger, etc. The college is not too crowded. Students get admission here based on merit. There are various clubs and committees present in the College like moot court committee, debating committee, legal sid, etc. Various technical and non-technical fests are organised in college. Technical fests like debate competition and CCADR, etc. and non technical like cultural fests of Jeeveteva, etc. are organised. Other engagement activities are Debsocs where debates happen. There is music room for cultural activities. General and special intra moot court competitions also happen in the college.
