Overall Review on L.B.S. College of Engineering

Overall Rating
I am pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science field. I chose this college because it is close to my house. I really had a fair experience in this college. The rules are not that strict as you see in most of the private colleges. The campus has a placement cell as well.
 

Academics Rating
A student will be allotted to a particular course based on the Kerala Engineering and Architecture Entrance Exam (KEAM). The KEAM score will be calculated on the basis of the KEAM entrance score and the aggregate of marks obtained in P, C, M subjects in the higher secondary level. There are three quotas that are merit, management and NRI.
 

Faculty Rating
The college has new as well as well experienced faculties. Most of them are friendly. Some teachers hold doctoral degree. The college has a class curriculum committee to discuss the academic things. Every student is allotted a tutor for individual attention. He/she can approach their tutor in need of leave, doubts, etc.
 

Placement Rating
The campus has a placement wing which functions very well. The normal eligibility of a student to be placed is to attend the interviews that are conducted by software companies in the campus at the last year of a particular batch. He/she should score a minimum CGPA and at the time of the company visit, they should not have any backlogs. They can participate in the interview if they meet these criteria.
 

Hostel Rating
There are more than one hostel blocks. A hostel is exclusively maintained for female students. Boys have 3 hostels; one for first years only, named (Zulu), other two are for the senior boys. The hostel provides mess facility as well. The charges are also not too expensive.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure part of this college is not up to mark as far as I am concerned. The college is vast and has 52 acres of land in which majority are surrounded by grass only. Although there are many buildings divided into various departments, the reliability of bricks is not satisfactory. All the buildings are old and are not strong enough. But it alone, won't affect a student's academic life.
 

Campus Rating
The institute is located in a hilly area which is away from the city. The unbearable thing in the college is the hot and humid climate. One cannot walk without an umbrella in the morning. The college has clubs like NSS, IEEE, Bhoomitrasena, etc. Every year, there will be an arts fest, sports fest and a tech fest which has so many technical events as well as cultural events for the students to enjoy.

    Overall Rating
    The college is a great choice for Engineering. It is located nearby a town which provides easy access to buses. The infrastructure is good enough but maybe not the best. Placements are good enough and have increased in the past academic year. The college has also received NBA accreditation (for all departments except EEE). Definitely it is the best college in Kasaragod for Engineering. The college is definitely a good option even though never the best. Placements are good.... Read Full Review
