National Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Mohit Kumar

Hi this is Mohit Kumar 2021-25 batch, B.Tech program in IT branch. I got a CRL rank of 36k and in JOSSA counseling I got this seat. I chose this college because my rank was not enough for the cut-off for other best NIT. I got IT branch in this college so I decided to take admission in this college. The infrastructure of the college is good. But I will suggest you to go for better but if you do not want to take a drop then you can come in this college. Overall college is average.

My branch is Information Technology this is same like computer science branch, the only difference is that IT is something related to networks but overall students are placed in same companies. It includes subjects like DBMS, Operating System, Programming Languages, etc. For getting a seat in IT branch you have to score 20k AIR rank if you are a general category candidate and for OBC about 35k and 75% in board examination. If you are interested in programming and want to join tech companies like Google, Amazon, Tata Consultancy Services, etc. Then you can join this branch.

Faculty of NIT Srinagar is overall good. They are highly educated and experienced from reputed colleges of India. They are available for any help for any doubt. Some teachers are not good. IT branch faculty is also very highly educated. There are about 7 main professor and 10-12 Ph.D scholars. Overall faculty is average. They are educated from other IIT / NIT and are having more than 10 years of experience.

Placement of NIT Srinagar was not so good in past 2 years. This time due to recession it was difficult to get a highly paid. In 2022 placement was about 75% with good offers but in 2023 placement was 50% and below with low packages. Highest package: 40 LPA, Lowest package: 6 LPA and Average package: 10 LPA. NIT Srinagar has a placement cell but they only manage the exams. They don’t provide any training to the students for placements. Internships are not provided by the college.

There are five hostels in campus. Indus Hostel, Chenab Hostel, Manasbal Hostel, Jhelum Hostel, and Tawi Hostel. Hostel facilities are good enough like bathroom and rooms it include almirah, bed, chair and table. Mess food is below average but there is a facility of canteen also. You can enjoy anything in canteen.

Campus buildings are beautiful there is about 6 parks in campus main block is very beautiful with fountain and every hostel having their park. Sports ground is available for every game like cricket, football, badminton, tennis, basketball etc. Library is also beautiful structure but very small in size having a less capacity for student.

There are fests and cultural fests every year Like Rang-e-Chinar and at every festival you will enjoy with your friend. There are coding clubs also and you can join any of them. You can engage in workshops related to technology and future goals. Overall campus life is good.
