Christ University is good for MBA as Research and Live projects are part of course

Christ University is one of the finest universities in India. MBA from Christ University was more like because I didn't have a choice, I joined it. Christ is different from many mostly because of the splendid infra that it has. The University is run by Bishop’s and shifted the campus in 2012 so one can expect some flaws. The biggest was that hostels didn’t have the mess and in-time was 9.30 pm. We were left with once choice of eating at the University’s cafeteria that was hell expensive. The beautiful campus is located alongside some of the most picturesque places of the city. Placements are still done on a large scale but quality has for sure deteriorated. There are 5 streams to choose from, and marketing being my preferred field, I chose that. The intake is quite high as the university has started taking as many students that come their way. The classes are split after the first year as each specialized stream has a cap of 40-50 students.

One of the distinct advantages of Christ is its academic part. Research projects and live projects were the major chunks of our course. The college has tie-ups with major companies, and joining hands with them in their project was like a dream. The classes consisted daily and there's no scope of bunking them because the college was quite strict in this department. The MBA college of the university is over two decades old and knows well how to run a B-School. Kudos to them for how they have handled academics, as I don't see any changes to be made because the college has fixed this department really well.

In one of the speeches from the director, it was revealed that they have spent over 100 crores to start this campus. Out of that, one thing that is certain is that they have spent quite significantly in getting the best teacher on board. All the faculty were wonderful as they had both teaching as well as industrial experience. The number of faculty for MBA was well over 20. They have made education department run smoothly as management has given them a free hand to see off the lectures. Sometimes we had to wait till 8 pm or more as the classes would go on till then.

Placements were mostly in insurance and banking sectors. Aditya Birla Finance, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and others have tied up with the institute as most banks have been funding the institute since its inception. In marketing, the placement was 100%, but in other departments, it was a miss. The average was around 7-8 lakhs per annum which was a little low, but one with prior work experience or who stood out the best were given jobs in excess of 10 lakhs per annum. One year's work experience may work in your favor, and not just in Christ but any B-School would provide better placement opportunities to students with prior work experience.

I don't understand the need for such a colossal hostel when the university has just shifted four colleges to Kengeri campus. Even after so much of advertisement, the university has not received many applicants from other cities. The one’s who did their graduation from Bangalore are the ones who join Christ now. The students who were outsiders were mostly from Western and North Eastern States. The university has left no scope of providing top accommodation as they have built a world-class hostel for both boys and girls in the gigantic campus.

A walk down the campus was as soothing as anything. The main campus building was had a peculiar design never seen before. Mostly all buildings are glass buildings and have ACs in all the classrooms. The garden besides the building was the gathering point before leaving the college in the evening. The parking lot is bigger than that of a mall. Some trees have dried up at the campus, and that's the only change I expect in infrastructure; otherwise, the infrastructure is magnificent. The university campus has a nice canteen and a food world or food mall should I say as there’s plethora of options. The indoor sporting club with 2 separate gymnasiums for boys and girls. There's a basketball court and open ground for students to dedicate some of their time playing sports.

Christ University clubs need a huge round of applause because one of the college's clubs, DEBSOC, a debate club that has produced some of the finest debaters from the college. Special faculty has been invited to run that club, and in one of the events, Christ students were placed second as they were just behind the IIM-B. Likewise, there are many clubs to be a part of as there is a beautiful life beyond academics at Christ. I enjoyed my time thoroughly and on the last day of the college, I was like I will have to find a new interest in life because the university’s life was addictive.
