Netaji Subhas University of Technology B.Tech Review By Himanshu Kumar Bairwa

There is no doubt that there are some better colleges than NSUT like IIT and NIT, which I could have selected as I got 8000 rank in JEE Main, but I choose NSUT over others because of its placement statistics, which are very good as compared to others. One of the main reasons of choosing this college is that it is near to my home, so it is very convenient for me to go here. Also, my coaching and school teachers also suggested me this college because many students from their batch got the best placements from here. Also, my older brother is in the same college, but in different branch (ECE). These are the reasons that finally led me to this college. One more point I always wanted to get into IT sector and NSUT is known for its engineering in the IT stuffs. Its campus with an size of 145 acres if I remember correctly is also very good with a lot of trees and greenery.

The course in which I'm currently enrolled is Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). As I got 8254 rank in JEE Mains, I got this Branch, but it depends on the category of the student. The cutoff for CSE in NSUT was 9768 approx. After getting the Mains result I applied for the JAC Delhi. Then after some days of Round-1 results, I got IT (Information Technology). I reported to the NSUT college for the documents as it's necessary to report to the college where we got the seat according to round. I choose float option as I know I can get a better branch, and then in Round-2 I finally got CSE which I wanted. This time I choose freeze as I don't want more upgraded branch as it was CSAI and I don't want to get into AI. So, I choose to freeze the seat. There is no special eligibility to get into this college. We have to clear the cut-off and should have the required documents at the time of verification. I choose Computer Science and Engineering as I always wanted to be a software developer and work at SpaceX as a researcher.

About Faculties I don't want to say anything as most of our faculties are from IITs and NIT's and there are some from NSUT itself. They provide quality education with the best teachings. As in B.Tech we have 8 semesters i.e. 2 semester per year. Number of teachers varies from semester to semester. Most of the teachers are very supportive and teach with their best effort in the classroom except some. As always there are some teachers that I meet who just come and go and they are not putting in their best effort and also didn't provide after-class doubts. I would also like to say that the teachers who are young like our Maths professor understand students properly and teach in the style in which they like and appreciate. Teachers also interact with students by raising questions after every topic. Teachers who are bit old are also the finest teachers as they have much knowledge in the respective field. Last, I would like to say that the all the faculties are best.

Yes, we have a placement cell in our college called the TOP (Training and Placement) Cell; which takes care of all the data and facts about the students and the companies. It is like a mediator between the students and the companies. Yes, it helps us in many ways like every month it organises some workshops or sessions by experts or companies at the college. So, the percentage of students placed overall in 2022-2023 is 94 % approx whereas for CSE it is 99.94% (the official College said to us) the highest package was 74 Lakhs domestically. For 2023-2024 the overall placement percentage is 78% and for CSE it is 87%, yeah it's too low compared to 2022-2023 but I think it is due to the recession.

Yes, in our college we have residential facilities, but I would like to clarify for you that as I said earlier I live near the college so I have not availed of the hostel facilities. But as many of my friends live in a hostel or PG, so yeah I can tell you about that. Our college has many hostels, the boys' hostel is on one side of the college and the girls' hostel is on the other side of the college. In our college there are specific hostels for DASA Students. I always heard about hostel life from my friends and how they enjoy or even suffer sometimes. As non-hostellers are not allowed in the hostels, therefore I cannot tell much about the facilities and infrastructure, but yes from the outside they look very good. Also, I have not heard anything negative about the hostel except sometimes food as they always serve the same food item every 2 days. But, overall in my opinion hostels are also good.

Overall campus infrastructure is decent in my opinion. Our main academic block of the campus was built many years ago although it looks great and big, but it doesn't has a big Auditorium, rather has a small one which can hold a capacity of maximum 500-800 students. Our college has more than 5000 people, so it's small for such college. The Departments of various branches were built at the same time as admin block. Recently our CSE department got renovated and looks amazing as now all classrooms are AC centralized with big screen teaching board and a capacity to hold 80-90 students. We have mini-auditorium that can hold around 100 students. We have 1 centralized library that holds more than 20000 books. Other than these we have 1 Amul canteen and 1 Main center.

Campus life is very vibrant and dynamic for me as it offers a variety of engaging activities and opportunities for personal and social growth. So we have 2 fests, 1 is Resonanz which happens generally in October-December, it is our cultural fest and the other one is MOSKHA INNOVISION which happens during March and it happens on a very big scale. Like this year we have a total footfall of over 1.75 lakhs on all three days. Many singers and artists came like Raftaar, King, Sunidhi Chauhan, etc. It was one of the best days in my life as I also got VIP Pass because I worked in MOKSHA team. Other than fests, we have many clubs and societies that do events throughout the year. We have clubs for music, dance, debating, Entrepreneurship, Tech, etc. We also have Tedx organized by IEEE where many speakers come and give lectures. Hackathons also happen during tech week. There are many engagement activities like we can play outdoor games as they have everything like football, cricket, volleyball, running track, etc. It also has a centralized AC gym. It also offers many indoor games like chess, table tennis, etc. At last, there are many activities to do in the campus. And one more important thing about NSUT is that it has very high fees. I also don't know why it has such a high fee despite being government college.
