Review on Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration

Overall Rating
Overall, I want to tell it's a good experience in college. I have made good friends there. Teachers were good. Infrastructure was good. They always arrange extracurricular activities. People are good here, environment is good and clean. Goenka is a brand name. Also its fee is very nominal. Goenka College is a dream college for many students. Overall I would rate it 4 out of 5.
 

Academics Rating
This college provides B.Com, M.Com and BBA courses. For entry in this college for bachelor degree, minimum percentage you require to score is 92% if you are coming from a different state. Here, cut off is categorised based on category. In general category, people from different state and general category of West Bengal falls. Fees are very nominal if you got selected for college. Overall, it's a great college academically. College at least once in a year arranges programs in college. You can see these programs on YouTube.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty is good and supportive. They help you in each and every possible way. Sometimes, some Bengali teachers start to teach in Bengali if you will request them to teach in English they will. I myself could not understand Bengali so I used to ask teacher to speak in English. Every teacher has their own way of teaching. One of every 5, 4 students must be pursuing for CA, CS, CMA or preparing for CAT.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is a placement cell in college. Companies like Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PWC, and Wipro come for hiring. Well, many other big companies also come for hiring. In my batch a company came and its package was approx 12 LPA, but of course selection rate was nil. As, very few students get to know about this because the college does not provide information about placement adequately as Placement committee is not very active. The average package that college offers is 6-7 Lakh per annum. A lot of students also go for internship in big 4 and other large companies.
 

Hostel Rating
There are no residential facilities in our college. Well, you can apply for hostel if you are a CU (Calcutta University) students and if you got selected you will get the hostel at very low price. It has around 15-20 minutes distance with college. You can Google for this hostel. Well, mostly students live in Girish Park, Central, and Bow Bazaar in PG. It costs around 7k to 10k depending on room sharing.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is good, well internally it is little old they can refurnish it. Library, washroom and classrooms are good and clean. However, there is no mess or canteen, inside the college campus but there are a lot of stalls/ shop outside the college like for sandwich, burger, mio amore etc. Classroom, restroom, auditorium are large and spacious. The only place that has AC is auditorium.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is good. Like they conduct programs at least twice a year. They organise for fests and farewell. They also organise different activities related to sports. Students from the college participate in dances and sports in inter College competition. Students represent our college in different colleges. We also got prizes there. College union is good and helpful.

    Goenka is a brand name; this has been rumored in all over the Kolkata. But the truth is completely opposite it has nothing special about it and the placements are not good. College premises and campus is just too small. Like the campus can't even occupy 200 students at once. Though the classrooms are quite big and occupy the number of students allotted to that class.     My college years had been smooth which not much suffering, it was how I expected it to be, simple sorted yet fun. I chose to be in Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration because it is a reputed one and I have always dreamt of getting in this college after my 12th examination.
