Jorhat Engineering College, popularly known as JEC is the second oldest engineering college in Assam as well as North East. This college has been playing a very crucial role in producing valuable assets every year since its establishment. As a student of JEC, I must say that it has a very good environment to study and learn. The college campus can be said to be average but the learning is top notch. It is quite peaceful inside the campus. JEC organises a Tech fest called PHOENIX every year which attracts a lot of crowd and companies and start ups all over the north eastern region of India. This college has been located in a very good location quite close to the town of Jorhat.

As I have mentioned that JEC has a quite engaging learning environment, this must be because of the supportive faculty members of all branches. You have to appear in Common Entrance Examination (CEE) to enter the institute. Your age might not be more than 21 during joining the college. You have to pass your 12th with 50 percent or above in PCM. You have to be good enough to earn such high score to get admission in this prestigious institute.

There are 5 branches in Jorhat Engineering College which are - Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and last but not the least Instrumentation Engineering. All the branches are quite good in terms of quality education. The faculty members are quite supportive and always ready to help in studies and internships. Students get internship at Oil, ONGC, NRL, Vedanta, Hindustan Unilever, and many other industries because of the guidance of these amazing faculties.

Placement record of JEC is quite good compared to other engineering colleges. Students gets placed at OIL, NRL, IGGL, Wipro, TCS, Tech Mahindra, LG, Vedanta, INOX, and many more companies.

Hostels are also good. Seniors are helpful. There are various inter hostel competitions organised to encourage the students. There are total 10 hostels in the college (8 for boys and 2 for girls).

Talking about the infrastructure, I must agree that it has good infrastructure but not up to the mark. There are so many things to be developed. However there is a new auditorium and new central library with better facilities and a new indoor stadium with more game options is being constructed which will be inaugurated within upcoming 2 months. The classrooms are good with the required facilities. The buildings are good. Parks need to be maintained a lot more.

Talking about the campus life, it has all the required things to make us happy and interactive. JEC has parks, auditorium, football ground, and cricket ground. Beautiful flowers, trees and lakes are also there to give us contentment. There is a tech fest called PHOENIX which is organised every year to attract a lot of crowd and create a very interesting and impactful environment. There are a lot of clubs like tech clubs, coding club, singing club, acting club, major games club, minor games club, photography club, literary society, and many more.
