Located in North Eastern state of Tripura, one of the seven sisters, NIT Agartala is a one of the 32 NITs spread across 365.6 acres of land. Agreed, it is a bit of a journey to reach there from the airport, but the 4 years (or as many years as the course taken deems necessary) are surely worth it, in every sense. You learn so much academically and even beyond that.

To join NIT Agartala, you have to take the JEE Main exam and score the desired percentile and rank to get selected to the college through JOSAA counseling. According to your ranks and choice filling standards, you will be given a seat in any of the branches you fill out in the choice section. There are two semesters in each year and in each semester, two exams, midterm and end term with occasional quizzes, tests, assignments, and viva are conducted. The whole curriculum is designed in such a way that we get the theoretical knowledge through theory classes and test it out practically through practical classes. Library is there, filled with all the necessary books one might need to refer to in case of any confusion. And moreover, professors do give PDF for better clarity and understanding of the topics.

The faculty assigned mostly, if not all, is Ph.D completed professors who have prolific knowledge about the subjects they teach, and try their level best to impart their findings and their knowledge to the students. They might look strict, but ask them genuine doubts and they will solve it. Besides academics, they sometimes give such profound philosophical knowledge that can encourage students to become better versions of themselves in future. Most of the faculty is fluent in English or Hindi thus making it easier for students to communicate with them easily.

There is a training and placement cell, T&P. There are T&P coordinators and ICs (Internship Coordinators) for each branch that help their branch-mates, seniors and juniors to get better placement offers by referring or providing with links for better jobs and internships.

There are separate boys and girls hostels in NIT Agartala. While I am a day-scholar, I have heard from my hosteller friends that while some aspects like the rooms are pretty neat and overall infrastructure is nice, certain aspects still have some scope of improvement like the mess food. Gym access is also provided to the hostellers.

The infrastructure is pretty great to be honest. While there needs to be certain amount notice and care catering to the maintenance of the infrastructure. Overall, the infrastructure is good. With almost different buildings for each specified departments. It becomes easier for the students to find their respective departments and adapt to the distance to it.

There are many cultural clubs and technical clubs. Be it dancing, singing, acting, drawing or photography, be it one’s interest for robotics, coding, vehicles or aviation, NIT Agartala provides it all. There is a club out there to fulfill all your extracurricular demands. Campus life is pretty chilled. Every once in a while, there will be fun programs and annually two big fests, one cultural and one technical with some big guest attendees. There is no dress code, so bonus points for students who want to look good every day. There are multiple hangout spots so you can always have time for those laughs and talks. There are plenty of food stalls including one huge food court inside the campus. So rest assured you won’t feel hungry. And even supply shops too so that you can always go for the last minute printouts.
