An honest review about NITK

Overall Rating
NITK is the second ranked NIT after NIT Trichy. Its teachers, alumni and students make it a college worth studying in. It is located alongside the calm coastal Surathkal beach with Arabian Sea increasing its beauty. If you get any branch in NITK, it is worth preferring it over other tier 2 NITs.
 

Academics Rating
NITK offers B.Tech in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mining Engineering. One needs to write JEE Mains examinations and score above 97 percentile for getting any branch in NITK. One should have an aggregate of 75 percentages or more in his or her class 12th board examinations.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is good, experienced and old and has teaching experience of more than 15 years. Most teachers have studied from IITs, NITs and have their Ph.D and thesis done from foreign universities. The teaching method is English. Most of the teachers are experienced and expert in their stream of teaching.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, NITK has its own placement cell and Career Development Centre (CDC). The placement cell does its best in inviting all the top tier companies to the institute and assures that all the students passing out get placed in the same year. The placement coordinator invites all the companies for hiring students at top companies. The average package is 12 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, NITK offers residential facilities and hostels for all students pursuing any course in the institute. You have hostels, night canteens and guest houses at NITK. First year students get triple sharing hostel rooms. Second year students get double sharing hostel room and in the last two years of your B.Tech program, you get single seater room.
 

Infrastructure Rating
NITK campus has hostels, night canteens, library complex, sports complex, playground catering to all the students. Library complex is open from 9 AM in the morning to 1 AM in night. You can eat at night canteens till 2 AM in the night. One can go to gym, play tennis, football, cricket, etc. in the sports complex. NITK has all the basic amenities. It also has one Health Centre for health needs.
 

Campus Rating
NITK has a beautiful campus life. It is the only institute in India having its own private beach. It has two fests - the technical fest is called Engineer held in October and the cultural fest called Incident held in March. Incident is one of the biggest college fests of south India. Campus life is safe, secure and enjoyable. One can go and chill in the evening by the seaside beach.

    My experience at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is great. There are a lot of things to do in this institute. Other than academic work it provides lots of other opportunities and activities for the student such as sports, singing and many other things.     NITK Surathkal is one of the most precious institutes. After admission, I love it very much. Firstly, the infrastructure is superb. The academic structure is also very good and is upgrading day by day with this modern world. The fee structure is very affordable. One special factor is that it has its own private beach.     I am currently a 2nd year student in B.Tech EEE branch at NITK. So coming into this institute was never decided. The story begins with a student preparing for IIT did well in MAINS have CRL 7384 but then bored and messed up in ADVANCE and ends up with a bad rank. From the ADVANCE rank I was not able to get to a good IIT so decide going for NIT instead.     I am studying at Nation Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Karnataka. As I am here for 2 months, I am experiencing a very good culture, nature, and infrastructure here. Students come here from all over the India as this college is one of top 5 NITs. I chose this particular college because of its environment and all other things like faculties and all.
