Tezpur University B.Tech Review By Ritesh Kumar

Tezpur University is a GFTI situated in the Nappam village of Tezpur. Admissions are done through the JEE Mains and the north-east quota. The reservation percentage is 60% for the north-eastern Indians and 40% for the students not residing in the north-east. This university has good academics, infrastructure, management, etc. There are many courses here; from B.Sc to B.Tech, M.Sc to M.Tech, and B.Com to B.Law. The fees of this college are very reasonable.

I think the university is good in academics. Exams are always conducted on time and the results are also declared on time too. The course structure is good and classes are taken timely. But according to me, it is a little bit hectic as there are always exams waiting for you. The course duration is 4.5 months per semester and you will get 2 months long summer holiday, 1 month winter holiday and 14 to 18 days during important festivals or academic holidays. Class starts from 9:10 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. with 1 hour of lunch break. 75% attendance is compulsory otherwise be ready for getting backed in your subjects.

T.U. has some mind blowing professors. They are mainly from IIT Guwahati. They have good experience in teaching and some are even better than NIT professors. But there are some faculties who do not know how to teach. They have a great knowledge but lack in delivering the content.

There is a placement cell in the Tezpur University. Decent amount of placements do happen. But the placement ratio is less and can be improved. The highest package was around 25 LPA for on campus placements and 45 LPA for off campus placements.

The hostel facilities and its infrastructure are good. There are 6 boy’s hostels and 8 girl’s hostel. You will get a double occupancy room, except students with the course CMH will get a triple occupancy room. A room consists of a bed, table, chair, almirah, fan and bulb. The hostels are in good condition.

According to me, this university has the best infrastructure. There is an auditorium with centralized AC. There is a gym, a perfect swimming pool, playground, volleyball court, basketball court, good roads, labs, workshops, a community hall for meetings and a conference hall for the official meetings.

The campus life in T.U. is good. The gender ration is also good in the campus, girls are more than boys. There are many clubs like the photography club, open knowledge club, cricket club, etc. There are two fest organised by this college. The fest, “Inscignis” is organised by the School of Science. While the fest, “Techxetra” is organised by the School of Engineering. In the month of February the annual meet is held.
