My College Experience at Jorhat Engineering College

Overall Rating
To summarize this college, all I can say is that, it is one of the most reputed colleges situated in Jorhat, Assam. I enrolled in J.E.C. in 2023 and I think it was the right choice for me. In 2023 J.E.C. was ranked 66 among 170 colleges in India, which was ranked as the 2nd best engineering college in the IIRF ranking in Assam after IIT Guwahati. This college provides good academics and the placement scenario is also decent.
 

Academics Rating
The admission process in J.E.C. is done on the basis of one’s CEE test score, which is a state level entrance examination for Engineering colleges in Assam. If you score a decent rank in the exam, then you can get your desired branch like CSE. The college provides courses like Bachelor of Technology (B.TECH), Masters in Technology (M.TECH) and Masters in Computer Applications (MCA).
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members of this college are excellent and can guide you with their expertise in various fields. The professors have a background of being graduated from top institutions like IITs, NITs, etc. and hold Ph.D degrees. If you are a dedicated student and have interests in many things related to Engineering, then the faculties will help you to a good extent.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, we do have a training and placement cell. It provides good placements every year to hardworking students who maintain their grades throughout the entire 4 years of college. The recruiting companies include Power Grid, Vedanta, Oil India Limited and many more.
 

Hostel Rating
As a hosteller myself, I can say that the J.E.C. hostel life is very precious, as we can learn many things from the hostel life here. This college has 11 hostels at the moment, where 8 are boy’s hostel, 2 are girl’s hostel and 1 is for the researchers. There are 2 new upcoming hostels being built in the campus. Living in the hostel can make you explore your hidden talents in sports (like cricket, table tennis, volleyball, football, etc.).
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure is good in Jorhat Engineering College. The auditorium is one of the key highlights of the college infrastructure. The classes are very large. A new library is being built with a digitalized system, which will be large and can accommodate many students. We have a research scholar’s guest house, a beautiful canteen and academics buildings. The hostels are in good condition, with beautiful greenery covering the area.
 

Campus Rating
J.E.C. has a good college environment with great academics. The college has some clubs for the students to improve their skills. Some clubs here are avant garde, glug, robotics club, singing, dancing, drama, quiz clubs etc. Every year the annual college fest called, “Pheonix” is held, which will give you one of the most memorable experiences of your college life.

    When talking about the overall experience, I must say that I had never expected that an engineering college in Assam except IITG could provide us this high level of education. It’s my 2nd year in this college now and is really happy that I got a chance to do my higher studies in such a prestigious institute within my home state.     My experience in Jorhat Engineering College till now is pretty good. There is a good environment in the college. Each department has qualified professors who guide us for our future. Although I won't say that this is the best engineering college in Assam but it is pretty good. The infrastructure is good. The hostels are nice. And the auditorium of the college is very good.     Jorhat Engineering College is best for its beautiful campus. Campus has a beautiful lake in front of the college administrative building with facilities of chairs around the lake. We can sit in those chairs and relax a little bit. Besides we have a very auditorium called Arnab Kishore Bordoli auditorium funded by Oil India Limited.     In my personal opinion, which may differs from other I would suggest you to join in Jorhat Engineering College. This has been the top state Engineering College in Assam for significant period of time. The college has good reputation for providing good academics and placement in every year.
