IIT Kanpur is totally different from what Kanpur is. It's another world inside Kanpur. I choose this campus because of student’s freedom and representation at each place. In IIT Kanpur student are in the committee of course structures. Student’s representation in UGARC is almost equal to professor. I leave campus at 3 AM or come next day at 2 AM and no one will question me. If you want a great campus life and placement then you should come to IIT Kanpur.

Courses are tough IIT Kanpur’s student have average CPI is less than other IITS and if you pass any course in IIT Kanpur then you have enough knowledge of the course and if you got A, then you master the course after having a professor who graded harshly. For entry you have to get good rank in JEE advance for B.Tech and GATE for M.Tech. In B.Tech you have a good placement start and IIT tag and in M.Tech you have a good chance for research in foreign countries and stipend of 12400. In Ph.D you will become a good researcher with stipend of 35000 / 72000 in first year and go to 45000 / 90000 till 6th year.

Most of the professors have a degree from IIT and a foreign degree and they have very good government and private projects in their field. Professors teach well but student are not attending their classes because there is no strict attendance policy by institute. So many professors from Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Humanities and Aerospace department give marks for attendance having around 10% weightage of total course marks. Few old teachers use blackboard and chalk for teaching and rest are using ppts after COVID and some are using NPTEL lectures.

Placement is very good in circuital branches and B.Tech, but BS placement is not good according to their rank in JEE Advance Economics. Most of the students are placed in software and coding and rest in product and consulting role. CGPA play an important role in placement.

Hostel is not that good. It has 70 year old rooms with an old bed, table, chair and an almirah in wall. Hostel life is good because of your friends and peers. Infrastructure is old but design and architecture are good. In old hostel no recreation activity happened since last 2 decades.

Rather than hostels academic area are very beautiful. It has good lecture hall with AC and student lounge that is opened for more than 16 hours. Student has study area in their department and terrace has good view in nights but there are guards to stop you.

Campus life is best. Open air theatre, old sports complex, skating ring, oxidation pond, and other facilities are also available in the college. Various cells and clubs are present in the college. A gym is also made available in the college for students.
