Acharya Bangalore B-School BBA Review By Mukesh Parakh

ABBS was not a familiar name as I aimed for Christ University but due to lack of score in the entrance had to settle for ABBS. After a few days, even one of my friends also joined me as he didn't even give the entrance, but a little caption fee other than the college fees helped him get admissions here. ABBS was also good in some ways as coming from Rajasthan, one would feel a little different here because of the presence of the local students and not many students from North Indian states at least. The college is located far from central Bangalore, which is also a major area of concern. I always had some visitors and calling them near the college or meeting them was always a concern. There are hardly any positive points about ABBS, and Bangalore has many options for better BBA or BBM programs. Societies and their activities were cherries as there were enough clubs for us to be engaged with them. Marketing had the best placements and other specializations placements were awful.

Possibly a hell-bunt change is required as the timings are not followed and daily 3 lectures of 2 hours each are all. This makes a subject boring, plus practicals are not even 30% of the theory. Timings were still better as we used to get before lunch. The whole day was ours, and we could use all the college's facilities and utilize our time in contributing to the societies we were a part of. Since there were 6 subjects in each semester, they should manage the lectures properly as 5 subjects can be easily accommodated in 6 hours schedule. One half for lectures and students are set free was a nice concept, it's just that the lectures of individual subjects were too lengthy.

First of all, the number of faculty for BBA was quite less. This was an issue definitely, as some of them didn't even have the potential to teach. Some did provide us with nice insight and in-depth analysis as BBA is all about analysis. My opinions are truly objective as the faculty of the college were of no use. Not all, but definitely most of them for sure.

Don't believe all that they show because for Finance, only 10 % placements from our batch. No big names, just the start-ups. Yes, some have become big names today, but only the start-up finds interest here as they get students without bringing much out of their pockets. If one can make peace with the package, then what about the placement percentage? It was not over 10, and even for a year before us, it was near that only. Marketing students’ percentage was better than other specialization as 70-80% of students from marketing had campus placements. The ABBS fees are much higher, so I am being a little subjective but try to get admissions in Christ, Jain, or PESIT as they are much better than ABBS.

Two boys hostel and one girl's hostel building is there at the campus. The boy's hostel rooms were comfortable had a nice set of furniture and attached bathrooms. There was also a common area which had TV sets, some indoor sporting facilities. The hostel was clean and most importantly, it was built a couple of years before I joined, so the building was quite new. All the hostels have their mess, and the food served was average but had variety. The curfew time was 10 pm, and also there's a college canteen and cafeteria at the campus. Food was therefore never a problem and even living in the hostel was also quite enjoyable.

The 5-acre campus looking like heaven on earth as the buildings were damn beautiful, and one has to check them from inside to know how good they are. The classrooms were superb, and the college library, even though small, had almost all the syllabus books and out of syllabus. ABBS has all sporting facilities that are your specialist. From the basketball court to pool tables, ABBS have them all. The open ground had a decent size stadium which was used for playing cricket and football. There's a considerable canteen but not that huge to accommodate over 1000 students, which is why it was often crowded. The cafeteria, which was close to the hostel, was also equally occupied as there were hardly any restaurants in the vicinity of the college. The safety model of ABBS was amazing as cameras were installed at all areas of the college, and any form of bullying, ragging or fighting among the students was captured, and actions were taken immediately.

For all three years, my friend kept taunting me as I asked him to join this college, and it was nowhere near the college of Bangalore whose stories we heard growing up. College was also miserable at the inter-college fest of Bangalore colleges UDAAN as we hardly won anything, but still, the college never made any changes to its schedule or planning.
