S K Somaiya Degree College of Arts, Science and Commerce are an autonomous college under the affiliation of University of Mumbai. It provides a variety of courses in humanities and commerce. I have been a student of SK for over two years now and it has been wonderful experience so far. The college provided students with a large scope for extracurricular activities that include sports, cultural committee, NSS, NCC, and more.

I am a student of Bachelor of Commerce since 2021 in the college. My experience with syllabus has been so far great. This syllabus is up-to-date and is revised every two years academically. Students are trained in a way that helps them shape their mind and analytically which helps in overall development of a student. The subject of psychology is also compulsory during the final year. This makes the syllabus more relevant to real life as we study businesses psychology which enhances our understanding of other subjects too.

The faculty in the college is quite experienced and knowledgeable. They are highly focused on making the teaching learning process more comprehensive and engaging which helps the student in understanding the topics in a better way. I personally have been attending lectures regularly and I’m quite fascinated saying that the teachers tried their best to include topics for discussion in class, which syllabus won’t cover.

As far as placements are concerned, I am personally not aware of major placement program that take place for degree students. However, the college does have tie-up with Internshala that helps the student in exploring different possibilities of internship and jobs during and after their graduation. The college arranges lectures for students to develop skills that also include resume building, seminar, career guidance lectures, and more.

I do not use hostel facility of the college. Hostel facilities are quite good. Rooms of girl’s and boy’s hostel are nice.

The infrastructure of SK is quite satisfactory as it has all of the required facilities such as spacious and ventilated classrooms. It has a library with more than 60,000 books. A cultural forum cabin for cultural and festival related activities is also present in the college. Common room for boys and girls and an indoor games room is also available in the college.

Various extracurricular activities are also organised in the college. the college has athletic ground, human size chessboard, theatre, football turf, and many other facilities. The college has green surroundings. I would highly recommend students to join this college especially if they are looking for non academic growth.
