College of Basic Sciences and Humanities take admission through JEE only. In this college, there is only one course available that is B.Tech biotech. For the biotech branch in B.Tech, they have a separate college otherwise every other B.Tech branch is in a different college. But the admission process is the same. During counseling, biotech has the lowest JEE cut-off. You can get admission with a low rank in bio-tech also around 1 lakh or under it for general candidates. The college is accredited with AICTCE only like the other colleges in the university. For biotech course, you have to pay an extra 25000/- each semester while in other B.Tech branches is not the case. This extra fee is utilized in labs and stuff.

In this college there’s only one course available that is biotech and also that too under B.Tech branch. Inside biotech course there are multiple departments like molecular biology, genetic engineering, chemistry, bioinformatics, biological science, etc. As such b tech biotech is not a very popular branch however B.Tech biotech has some extra value if it is done from Pantnagar, because the college is considered to be the expert in such related programs and will provide many benefits. Our course also has flexibility in attendance, there was a minimum percentage bar in attendance but was manageable. But now it is 75% which could also be managed.

There are not many professors in our college as compared to other colleges but numerous professors come from other colleges of our university who share the same subjects or sometimes chapters. Professors are supportive however very strict. But once you have spent enough time everything comes in handy so don’t worry about that. However, they teach any subject with pure excellence. You will not be requiring any other source if you’re studying just from their notes. Also, there are many professors who have their own books which will help you.

The placement year was also fine. You should not expect big companies to come your way however there will still be many companies to apply for. For internships, there are no such on-campus things, but you will be guided properly by college professors on how to grab one internship. Professors had contacts with other institutions and might send you there for an internship which is based upon their preference. However, for placements, you will see many companies coming to college. Apart from this, there are also other ways like off-campus for which on-campus events will help you build a good resume and college might also provide a reference.

There are so many hostels in Pantnagar. And you will also learn that for B.Tech students you get 4 different hostels for boys while that is only true for other branches except for biotech. Biotech branch being a part of a different college has only one hostel for its students in which all students from the first year to final year stays for 4 continuous years. For girls they stay in Saraswati Bhawan for the first year and for the next three years they have to reside in Mandakini Bhawan. Hostel facilities are fine, cleanliness is normal. But the food quality is nice and sometimes good. In one room you will stay with 2 other boys while for girls hostel I’ve heard only two stays.

The college building is old, which makes it into its design and origin. However, classrooms and auditoriums are kept modern with big projectors and screens. Our college is located just in front of the Gandhi Park entrance, which is also the center of the campus. There is a stadium called Stevenson stadium which has so many sports. The stadium is quite near to the hosteller area. For medical support, you will get aids at every hostel and also a govt. the hospital is nearby which you can access anytime. There is a quite big university library where you can get any book, as there are more than 3 lakhs books. The library is very big, you can spend your time studying there in silence.

Campus life comes alive when there is any fest. We prepare for the fest, we attend the fest and everything is so much fun. The main attention of our fest is coliseum which is a 2-night fest by the college of technology, where we had the most fun. Apart from this there is 5-6 more fests by every college which are super fun. There are so many events that are organized by each society, there are numerous societies in university so there’s an advantage of attending maximum fests. Also, many talent hunt programs that cover almost every domain get conducted every year.
