What can be better than a green campus with a lively culture of academic and cultural societies and the best professors? I knew that this college was famous for its Science professors, social life, sports, and Science labs. But after my research, I came to know that they have the best faculty in English Literature and a great theatre society. There was so much to live and learn. Every other day, a guest lecturer, working in a prestige industry would come and share their valuable experiences. The societies participated in national and international competitions. The college would conduct amazing fests and events. I chose this college because of these reasons. It felt like my dream college and it was! It was the best of both worlds- campus life and academics.

I studied B.A. (Hons.) English, which is a three-year course. The entry requirements are the same as the Delhi Universities (which are given at their portal), but this college publishes its own Merit and Cut-Off list. If you wish to clear the first list, you should have 98% in the top four subjects of your board exams (including English in the top four). When I enrolled in this college, I understood why my seniors would say S.G.T.B. Khalsa is the best college in Delhi University. This college will provide the best amenities one could ever dream of.

The faculties of my course are well-experienced, both in teaching and working in the industry. The professor who taught us the Shakespearean drama was a scholar and a famous actor himself. The Head of the Department was a famous Football Commentator and Media Person. A lot of professors came from the best colleges of India and the world. Since there was diversity in their backgrounds, they came with different and unique approaches of teaching. We were made to read history, politics and psychology that was relevant to our novel or play. Our professors took us to the National School of Drama (NSD), the best drama school in the country, to watch the plays that were in our course. Many seminars from scholars were organized to help us form a multi-dimensional understanding. Their teaching style was collaborative and they encouraged everybody to participate.

We have a robust Placement Cell, which contacts companies all over the industry. They prepare the students for the job interviews and placements. The seniors are really helpful as they guide and mentor their juniors very well. Some companies that come for recruitment are TCS and AXIS Bank etc. A lot of media and newspaper companies come to the campus for hiring too. Overall, there are plenty of great opportunities for placements in the college.

The college has an on-campus Girl’s Hostel which is safe, clean, well-maintained and air-conditioned. It is a 2 minute walk from the academic block. It is surrounded by greenery and is great for studying in peace. There is no hostel for the boys but they can find many PGs near the college. Most of them are affordable, well-maintained and provide the best facilities.

The college is air-conditioned, which is a relief during the summer months. The entire college is well-maintained and clean. It has a three-floor library and world-class science labs. The canteen serves good-quality and delicious food at affordable prices. The classrooms are big, spacious and well-lit. The college has a volleyball court, football field, indoor gym, and a clubhouse with indoor sports. There is a big and beautiful sitting area in the middle of the college which we call Jannat (Heaven), because it is full of greenery and provides shade in the summer. There is a bank and a clinic on the campus in case students want banking or medical services. In my opinion, this university has all the required facilities a student desires.

The campus life is lively. There are fests, events and seminars organized every week. There is so much to live and learn about. The fests had celebrity artists perform like Diljit Dosanjh and other famous singers. The clubs conduct national and international competitions. There are all kinds of societies that you could be a part of. The crowd at this university is very respectful and well-mannered.
