Overall, the institute is okay with average placement opportunities as well as average academics. No college is perfect if you fit it on the lines of IIT or NIT and AKGEC is no exception. The faculty is not great either. Though academics are okay, students can make the best out of the situation by being proactive and taking the steps to not rely on the college for the placement in a good firm. 75% attendance is mandatory, which can prove a menace to the students, but the college is undoubtedly good in terms of strictness which is an excellent thing to teach self-discipline to the students. College is good for learning but not a wise career option.

The quality stuff is not taught at the college mostly and more often than not the students mostly study on their own and get good marks on their own accord. No teacher helps the student in completing the syllabus nor do they guide in how to deal with the vast curriculum that will come in the examination. The students are hereby advised to rely on their own skills if they want to survive the failure of the examination because the syllabus is never completed if left on the faculty members. They never pay attention to your needs and demands, you will have to be your own teacher and self-studying is the only way out. They even send a letter home if the attendance is less than 75%.

Faculty is incompetent and not knowledgeable at all. They don't care whether you understood something or not. All they care about is 75% attendance and rote learning, which does not clear the concepts. They don't want to listen to any good idea that you might have for the curriculum's improvements or the teaching of the classroom sessions whatsoever. No focus on conceptual clarity is placed, and teachers do not entertain any questions no matter what. This is mainly due to their own lack of knowledge that they don't want to address. They know the fact that sometimes students know more than them, and this triggers them. Sometimes they can be too strict solely for not being in the uniform or avoiding following any particular rule. For me, if faculty and students can't go biceps to biceps, things were never be sorted. A huge disappointment from the shameful faculty of the college.

If you are in the IT or CS branch, rest assured you will have a good placement opportunity. The placement cell starts working in tandem with students once they cross the 4th semester mark, which is a benchmark for the college. Optional training sessions, industrial tours are organized often and this has helped students and knowing the industry needs. The college places almost 70% of its students every year, and that's a remarkable feat considering the college has flaws in most of its departments but has somehow found the formula to maintain a good placement record. I couldn't get placed through the college but still give credit for the placements as they were comprehensive.

Hostels buildings are good. Buildings are different for boys and girls, with special emphasis on the students' security and safety. To avoid any form of bullying or ragging, the college has separate hostel buildings divided as per student's year. The hostel has rooms with single to triple sharing rooms. The food of the mess was average but had no choice but to have it as the hostel fees include the mess fees. The name of the dishes changes daily, but the flavor remains the same in each one.

The brick buildings of the campus were not unique as this concept has been followed by many colleges in India, including IIM-A. The facilities provided to the students are good, they have a library for the students to go to and increase their knowledge. The campus has many trees and 2 extensive gardens for students to have their only time. The college is entirely Wi-Fi, and ICT-enabled. The college canteen was amazing, but the only drawback was that it remained open till 5pm. There are 2 food joints in the college and one of them was in our block, i.e., the CS block, and the other food court is at the mechanical block. There's a stationery shop inside the campus, and it was a good move as students need a lot of stationery things and that shop had them all. The sports ground were nice and a faculty was assigned, which helped students participate in the sports of their choices. The campus also has a 24*7 operational ATM inside the campus.

Campus life is great and enjoyable with various societies formed for multiple activities like dance, music, literature, etc. Along with these, there are many festivals and cultural fests too that we celebrate together and have fun! We laughed together, we cried together, just wish we all got placed together, but nevertheless, the campus life was outstanding.
